Ethan Rick Brian Joyes – born September 15th 2010
The original plan was that Ethan was going to be induced at 9am on Wednesday September 15th at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. However, Mr Ethan had other plans. At 8:30am, as I was getting ready to go to the hospital, my water broke. I was in the middle of making myself breakfast and preparing myself for an exhausting day when I felt the ‘pop’. I stopped and stood still for a minute not sure if what I had felt was my water breaking, and then I took a step. It was clear then that an induction was not going to be needed.
I quickly called for David, who was sleeping at the time and we got everything in the car and headed to the hospital. On the way to the hospital the contractions started and got more painful. I got up to my room and they checked me and said that I was 4 – 5 cm and that there was still a ways to go. At 10am they checked again and I was 8cm but still had cervix surrounding the baby. At this time the contractions were very painful and happening rapidly. I was begging for the epi but everything was progressing too quickly for me to receive it so I was given the gas to breathe with the contractions. It helped but it was still unbearably painful.
At 11:10 I was finally allowed to push and in 5 minutes Ethan was born. He weight 5lbs 13oz and was 19inches long. He has dark peach fuzzy hair and long fingernails. He is adorable! My labour was a total of 3 hours from the time my water broke at home.
When my water broke they did see a little bit of meconium and they were a little concerned so they took him to do tests, everything came back fine.
We came home yesterday (friday) and so far all is good. A little hectic but I expected that. My milk came in last night and I am pumping about an oz and a half evey 2 hours.
He are some pictures of my tiny baby bug! enjoy!
WTG girl! You sure know how to "pop" those babies out he is just precious and I can't believe how itty bitty he is! Were his big sisters tiny like that????
Thanks for sharing pics, btw, you have a beautiful family!
Awww thank you! Both of his sisters were 7lbs 10oz so this is a totally new experience for me. I had to get my dh to go buy preemie outifts because everything is massively huge on him.
He is such a great baby, quiet and sleeps through all kinds of craziness. I am just totally in love and I just can't believe I finally have my little baby boy!
