So, how do I know if I'm having contractions? At first I just felt squeezing and tight belly but now it kind of is uncomfortable, like a bad stomach ache that makes me feel like I should go poo... is that a contraction?

I'd say that's a contraction. I was confused about them when I first got them since I didn't have any BH's at all.

I had no idea because I didn't contract with my first. With DS2 I was contracting for weeks and almost missed it. It is a tightness of the belly. Mine didn't have back pain with it until I was in active labor.
So I tested my theory this way. If I could touch and kinda of grab my belly and squish it just a little, it wasn't a contraction. When it tightened, if it was uncomfortable to poke it or give it a little squeeze, I knew it was a contraction.

But that was just my experience! I hope you are having them! Your body could be getting ready!

I'm glad someone asked because I am not so sure about the contractions I think I might be feeling. My belly gets hard and I get this overall tight feeling. In general, I sometimes feel a little crampy and some back aching. I am curious to hear what others have to say...Are you all dilated at all? Last I heard I was almost 2cm.

As of Thursday I was 1.5 cm 50% effaced. I am timing them just to see, so far no real pattern...

These were the kinds of contractions I had with my son, yes!!!

This time they are different...the uncomfortable ones feel like that but also like I can't breathe because the top of my stomach feels "full" with pressure.

Nothing regular here though, either.
