Is it just me or is anyone else a little nervous about the cord stump coming off? He seems a little sensitive around there and its looking like its getting ready to fall off. I'm worried it'll hurt him afterwards and not sure how to keep that area clean once it does come off.

I remember when Isaac's came off, I totally panicked because it had gotten stuck to his diaper..the area looked really weird & infected but don't worry, it's normal. As I remember you don't really do anything to it once it's gone, I think keeping it dry is the most important and to keep sponge bathing until it's all healed up? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

once it comes off there isnt anything to take care of - it'll be his belly button - Kaylee's came off in one big piece but little brandon's came off in pieces - either way neither of them were hurt by it and there isn't anything you need to do little mama!

Once it fell off, there was a little dry blood inside for a couple days but other than that, it is just a belly button at that point. Just keep in clean and dry and it will be fine.

Thank you!! I just feel bad b/c he always kicks and fights it so hard during diaper changes and he usually ends up moving the diaper to where it hits against it and then he shrieks. I'm already getting the mom guilt, lol.

DD's cord actually leaked a little blood the other day so I freaked out and called the doctor who assured me a few drops were normal. But she also said that there are no nerve endings there and it can't possibly hurt the baby. I had mentioned she was crying a lot but in retrospect I think it was just gas. Anyways it looks like it's about to fall off and there is still some dried blood in there but that should clear out in a day or two.
