Just got home from my first group 5K "run". There were plenty of walkers too. The runners finished around 20 minutes. The last group of walkers finished around 80 minutes.
I finished at 38.5 minutes. I was aiming for 36 and I would have made that if I hadn't done the first 15 minutes as a warm up walk. It was 38* out so I thought I'd better take the extra time so as not to hurt myself.
I am excited though to do it again! I think I'll modify the C25K plan to have a full 3 miles on the weekends. I know you're not supposed to but it was easier than I thought it would be and a good motivator.
Is anyone else still doing this with Lanie and me?
I ran 90 seconds at a time(because I was still in W2) and walked until I felt ready to run again.
My body is raring to go but my lungs are holding me back. I've always had weak lungs so I need to be careful. I really should see a Dr. about it. I have a brother with Asthma + heart valve defect and my sister has pulmonary hypertension. I don't want to find out I have a defect. I wanna live my life without the worry my siblings have.
I don't think my time was fast at all but thanks. I walked the first mile in 13.5 minutes and finished the the next two miles at under a 12 minute mile. I stopped to tie my shoelaces 3 times. I need new sneaks!!!
I enjoyed myself very much. I really liked passing people.
