So when I asked about crawling, Krissy mentioned baby-proofing the house! I had been meaning to ask you ladies what all you do to "baby-proof" your homes?????

The living room's the only place I allow Caleb to crawl around, so it's the only place I've had to change. So let me see...

Well, I definitely vacuum a lot more than I used to, in order to keep little hairs and other debris I can't see off the floor so that they don't end up in Caleb's mouth.

We had to switch our living room entertainment stand with the bedroom one since the one in the bedroom is tall and solid, and therefore all the cords from the TV and game systems and such can be kept out of view and away from Caleb's hands. Also, it keeps our HD TV up high where he can't pull it down on top of himself once he starts pulling up (the TV only weighs like 20 lbs). So, in your case, maybe just make sure that all cords are secured and kept out of reach from where Peyton could crawl (remember that she can fit in places you can't! LoL). And if you have a lightweight TV, make sure it's secured to the stand or up high.

I would like to get furniture corner protectors, but I haven't yet. That's something I'll worry about more when he's starting to walk along the furniture.

Other than that, I just keep an eye on him, and keep little things up off the floor.

We put the outlet covers on before she was born, but that's about all we've done. We want to "house proof" Riley instead of "baby proof" the house. My parents always did that with us and we knew how to act at other people's houses.

As far as things they can get hurt with, that's a different story (cords, chemicals). I just mean we won't be moving all our cute stuff because we have a baby. We're not getting rid of the coffee table, etc.

^^Ditto. We never really baby proofed anything for Kaija and we won't for Kolbie either. We do have outlet covers in (what a PITA those can be ) and our bookshelves in the living room are bare from about midway down as well as our TV cabinet. But that's more because no one likes cleaning up 50 books and 100 movies every day after the girls rip them off the shelf!

Same for us. But we actually are getting rid of the coffer table, but that's because I'm going to get something with storage for toys instead, so we're going to get a faux leather type of ottoman that opens up so we can quickly hide the mess when needed.

I agree that I'm going to teach Peyton to stay out of things mostly, but just wanted to see what you all were doing! I'm really bad at vacumming and need to get better at it!

We don't really baby proof either. We have outlet covers and a few drawer/cabinet locks on ones with breakables in them. Lily takes them off though and she broke a bottle of tomato sauce the other day. We had some furniture corner protectors but Lily took all of those and hid them

I'm probably not going to do much... right now all i have planned is gates to section off the kitchen and top of the stairs and then maybe those corner things on the corner of the coffee table only because the table has really sharp corners and its glass (in the center) also. Other then that i'm not really sure, i'de rather just teach him instead of putting everything away

we haven't done much yet but the main things will be baby gates, outlet covers, and probably a few locks for the cabinet locks for the kitchen mainly where the cleaning stuff is
