it wasnt so great.

he has jaundice.. when he was born he didnt have any, the next day before leaving when they check it it was like a 5. something, so pretty low.. but the next day i noticed he was constipated bc we had switched formulas while in the hosp.. so he wasnt pooping, he popped once yesterday and it was little balls, soft ones.. but still.. and the very corner of his eyes were a little yellow
so they rechecked it, its a little elevated but not anything to be alarming over.. we obviously have to keep an eye on it..

so we talked about him not latching on ( i believe she specializes in breastfeeding ) i told her how he wouldnt latch on and yada yada.. she checked him and checked his mouth.. and notices his tongue is tied.. the little piece of tissue you have under the tongue to stop you from swallowing it.. his was really really short.. and it was restricting him from really using it.. like he litterally could not stick his tongue out from his mouth.. so.. she said what needed to be done. and i broke down.
she has to clamp the little tissue... then clip it with scissors.. i asked if he gets anything to numb it.. and no. so when i started breaking down she asked if i wanted to step out or not and i said yeah let me get my DH (with way less words bc i could hardly talk i was so upset)..
i walked out to the waiting room where DH was with Hunter since they have all the toys out there.. and like i said because i was so upset, i couldn't talk.. i asked him to come here and i tried to explain but literally no words even came out.. i told him to just go and they will explain..
so he stayed there with Van, and i went back in and he was crying but not wailing, i think they calmed him down before i would go in so i wouldnt be more upset..but he did need it done.. if he didn't he probably would never latch correctly, and when its time for him to learn how to talk, he wouldnt be able to talk and would require surgery later on instead.

to top that off i only had 2 hours of sleep last night.. Van was up for 5 hours because of his constipation his tummy was aching and he was so gassy.. he wasnt crying most of the time, was just awake so then i couldn't sleep either.

but, he lost a couple of ounces.. hes down to 6.2, was born at 6.9 so not to bad.. i think hes actually 18 inches and not 19.. when we were measuring him i had to hold his head up to the wall while she stretched his leg.. and she measured him at 19 when i noticed his head wasnt reaching the wall completely.. he is one short little dude!

so that is about it.. we go back friday for his 1 week.. its so crazy to even think of him being 1 week.. and i honestly do miss being pregnant.. just because i know hes not going to stay this way lol.. like i wish i could be pregnant and give birth and have him for the first few days.. and then just do it all over again those.. his labor and delivery.. not so much LOL

Poor little guy! Hopefully now he will be able to latch now. My cousin's little boy had to have this done when he was a baby.

i asked if this was generic.. she said it is.. my brother had this as well.. but they never knew about it til he was older..

this makes me wonder about Hunter now.. i mean, if i wasnt trying to breastfeed.. she would have never looked..
and because hunter has his speech delay, i wonder.. will have to check it out!

have Hunter stick his tongue out, if it look like its being pulled or looks like a heart, he probably is.

I am glad yall caught Vanders early, I think 2 months is the cut off point.. My neice had her clipped at the last minute, they had no idea either..

ugh the pelvis/hip is even WORSE than ever.. way worse than it was before.. it's excruciating.. if it doesnt go away within the next week (as its supposed to go away shortly after birth) i think im going to call my OB on it.. but im not sure that's the right doctor to ask??? i don't have a primary care physician.. no specific reason.. when we moved here and got the BFP i just got the OB

and LOL.. i said generic.. i mean genetic!

Ouch!! Poor little guy... I can't believe they don't numb the tongue or anything i would have been quite upset too. Does that heal pretty quickly? Or is it going to be a little painful for him to nurse now?

Oh poor Van and poor YOU! It's often harder on us to see them go through stuff. I'm glad they figured it out though!

it should heal quickly.. most things in the mouth usually do bc of bacteria and such..
he doesnt seem in any pain from it now.. i tried to nurse him though a few hours ago since getitng it.. and he hasnt changed MUCH.. he latched on a couple of times for just a few seconds.. but he def has nipple confusion

Poor little guy A girl in DD's PR just had her little guy in October and she noticed he was tongue tied right away and had it clipped and now he's nursing like a champ so I hope it works for Van. I hope the jaundice goes away...know how tough that one is after our past week!
