So I went in on the 23rd for my regular weekly ob appointment this time with my mother in tow. Going there I wasn't expecting much other than maybe slight progress but that it just wasn't anywhere near time. So I get in and the doctor checks me and gives this look like I could be going into labor at any second or something. She said I was 3 almost 4 cm stretchy and still about 50% effaced, so she told me to get dressed and she would be back to see me. She comes back in and tells me that my cervix was a perfect candidate for an induction if I so chose. After talking to her I decided that I would go ahead with the induction. So she sent me home and told me to come back to emergency at 9pm and she would admit me for induction. I went walking and shopping with my mom and visited with my dad, came home and DH and I packed and left for the hospital. I got checked in at 9pm, they started my pitocin at 10:30 pm and started to up the dose come about 4:00 the next morning. Oh my what a horrible night of sleep, the nurses had the heartbeat monitor so loud there was no sleeping. So at almost 7 am my doctor showed up to check me, I was still in the same place but was contracting well. She came in a little while later to break my water and while checking me it busted all on it's own. After that the contractions were really coming on and I decided to go ahead and get my epidural. My new best friend is my anesthesiologist, he was great. I was so scared of that epidural but it turned out not bad at all. After that I was feeling no pain and was ready to get the show on the road. Well I kept contracting and the doctors kept coming in and checking me, then a shift changed happened and a different doctor was coming in to check me and she started acting like I was going no where. Well the doctor previous had to stop my contractions because the baby was getting stressed out and they were having a hard time getting her heartbeat. So this other doctor came in and started talking c section and totally freaked me out. She left as my DH followed her into the hall and began to ask her what was wrong with her talking in front of me like that. and asked how does it make sense that you bring her in here to start her contractions, then stop them and then try to put her through a c section. He asked if the baby was in any danger and they replied " Well no but...." he said well no then my wife is not going to have a csection I won't allow it, you better find someone who knows what they are doing. God do I love that man. My doctor then went and got another doctor from my practice. She comes in and checks me and said that the baby just needed a slight turn in which the doctor did. Next thing I know she said let's get a test push and see what happens.......well I'll tell you what happened it was time for Alexa. My mom ran out of the room to go get DH and the next thing you know I am pushing her out. It took all of about 5 minutes to push my beautiful baby girl out. Alexa Grace was born Nov 24th at 4:04 PM. She weighed 7 lbs and 12 ounces and was 20 in long.
All and all I had a great labor and delivery. I am so happy and in love with this new precious bundle of joy and my wonderful husband. I will never forget that day for the rest of my life.
