Kaija's been congested and coughing a lot since about 2 weeks before Christmas and finally this week is seeming to be better. The Monday after Christmas Kolbie started coughing too and she seems to be getting worse That week between Christmas and New Year's I took them both to the Dr. and she told us because they didn't have fevers and their lungs were clear it was likely a random virus and it'd take up to 2-3 weeks to clear!! What!? It's been 2 weeks since Kolbie started coughing and having a runny nose and I swear her breathing is gravely now, but still no fever and definitely not lethargic. The PA we saw also said to watch Kolbie's nursing and if she stops then to worry, and she definitely hasn't had a problem there either. They both have check-ups on Thursday so I keep feeling like there's no rush to go in AGAIN but at the same time I can't help but feel like there's something really wrong with Kolbie and the Dr. will be upset we didn't come in sooner... Ugh. I hate having sick kids! I feel like I never know what to do!!
I hate this time of year with all the sick kiddos. Abri finally seemed like she was getting over her cold that she got before Christmas, but she woke up this morning with green snot running out of her nose. I wonder if she just picked up another virus while her immune system was still down? Hope she feels better!
Oh yeah, I'm sick too. I've got a major head cold. I keep taking ibuprofen and killing the pain in my ears, but in reality I probably have an ear infection... OJ and that are my friends right now!
We go to a GP that's part of a huge office and you'd think they'd have a nurse line, but they don't. I guess I can call and talk to our Dr's nurse, but they always just ask if I want the girls to be seen or tell me to just bring them in...
Hope she feels better soon!! If it's not clearing up and she seems worse then maybe request a chest x-ray. Lily had a weird type of pneumonia and her lungs were clear when they were listened to, but it showed up on the x-ray. She was about 8 months old and had been sick for about 3 weeks before that.
That sounds miserable Shelley! I might end up having to do that... ugh. She does sound a little raspy/wheezy when she breathes now which has me a little freaked out. Thinking back, the PA did mention asthma or allergies as possible culprits as well. But both of them at the same time with the same thing? I doubt that's it... I keep telling myself only another day and they're going to the Dr. anyway. Poor girl hasn't had a good nap today at all. She coughed herself awake this afternoon and when I was trying to put her back down I started coughing and couldn't stop so she woke back up again. She's wrecked right now
Hopefully they will take a look at her at your appt on Thursday. We also have had some stuff here that is hanging on forever. Even me! It gets so old, I totally empathize. A close friend had a baby on Dec 28th and I STILL haven't seen her yet cause I can't shake this bronchitis or whatever it is, and my kids keep getting sick too. Bummer.
