that absolutely hates sippy cups? I think they are one of the worst things you can give to your kids. They can teach them so many bad things. My dd used them, and ever since taking her off of them I wont use them. I think that it is just much easier to just give them a cup. Alex uses a regular cup just fine. He may make a mess sometimes, but it is better than the bad habits that sippy cups can teach. My dh hates sippy cups as much as I do, and everyone thinks we are crazy cause we wont use them.

Nope I love sippy cups! Our pediatric dentist says you can use bottle or sippy either is fine as long as your not sending them to bed with it and you aren't giving them sugary drinks in it. Either of those will cause bottle teeth/severe tooth decay.

I love them too. I think they save me a lot of cleaning....lol Which I LOVE! lol

I didn't have a problem switching to regular cups either, it wasn't like a soother or bottle for us at all.

I'm not quite sure what bad habits you're referring to either.

I like the sippies! It is helping him learn to use a cup without having to clean up spill after spill. He is in that stage of dropping everything off his tray and that would not work with a regular cup!

Really, a sippy isn't worse than a bottle or vice versa. Like others said - if you don't give sugary drinks or put them to bed with it - it isn't a big deal.

I plan on using sippies for a bit until he gets better fine motor skills. Then at meals when he is sitting down we will switch to a regular cup. But for at grandmas or out and about - we will stick with the sippy.

I love sippies too! Kinley still hasn't mastered a regular cup yet...she usually spills it! Its so handy to just toss a sippy cup in your diaper bag and know that its not going to spill!

Addisyn loves her sippy. She gets one with every meal with water in it. I'm actually very nervous to give her an actual cup with water because I know she'll choke unless I'm holding it. Sheesh she's even choked on her sippy! I'm also curious as to the bad habits...do tell please!

The sippy cups we use are straw cups, and that is the only kind I will use. I used them with my daughter as well. We go right from the breast to the straw or cup. Jack loves it! The Zo*Li BOT cups ROCK!!!!

I still give my daughter who is 4 the larger sippy cups I she is going to be on the carpet. She an drink out of a regular cup just fine, never took a bottle or cup to bed, and has no dental issues. I'm not sure what bad habits you te referring to?

The baby mostly nurses and only takes a bottle when I'm not around, but he will switch to sippy cups after he turns one.

Ditto! I LOVE these! We have to take a cup with us everywhere we go, so we couldn't function without these.

Mia doesn't use hers yet, even though Santa brought her some in her stocking!!!!!

I have always used them for my other kids. I'm lazy and hateeeeeeeeee spills. Seriously, spills, or "spillage!" as its refered to in our house when someone happens upon a spill, sends my bloodpressure and stress level sky high!

Lily and Violet both use regular cups and sippy cups (mainly sippy cups with straws). We usually use regular cups at home and sippy cups when we are out and about just because they don't spill in the car.

I just think that sippys can teach kids that it is ok to turn their cup upside down, throw their cups, and other things like that. I hate it when kids do that. When my dd used sippys I had far more messes to clean up than with regular cups, so I guess they just seem pointless to me. It took me forever to break my dd of trying to turn her cup upside down after switching to a regular cup even tho I always took her sippy from her if she did it. Maybe I never had good sippys.... because she was always making a mess with them. I never had a sippy cup that didn't leak, or just flat out spill everything out of it. Now that I don't use them we don't really have any messes. Alex doesn't hold his cup by himself yet, but he doesn't get a full size cup either. My dh found a package of large plastic shot glasses, that are perfect for him. They don't look like shot glasses... they just look like really small bathroom cups. That holds a perfect amount for him. I think they work great. I'm sorry my last post was cranky... I had someone trying to push sippys on me and it was really making me mad. She was acting like I am a horrible mom because I wont let my kids use sippy cups. Lol.

Tiffany - I don't think you are a horrible mom, and I think you have some valid reasons for not using the sippy! I think once my son has better fine motor - I would rather he use a regular cup. It is your child and family and if you don't want to use a sippy - that is your decision! I am sorry someone was pushy with you - it is just a cup for goodness sake. No biggie.

I don't think it's a big deal whether you use sippies or not. I mean they're your kids so what's the big deal if you choose not to?

Personally i love sippies (ones that don't leak that is)! I'm pretty sure i would go CRAZY if i just let him use cups all the time because of the messes. I've had him drink from regular cups when i'm helping him but i can't always be there helping so for the times i just want to hand him something to drink and not worry about it sippy cups seem perfect.

The Zo-li cups sound pretty great.. i'll have to try one
