Sorry I haven't been posting much. I have been popping in and lurking the board but not replying to much. Sorry! I am trying to come back full time again! Lol!
We are doing well. Ben is almost 10 months old!!! (on Monday to be exact) Where 10 months has gone is beyond me. Christmas was great! He actually enjoyed opening his own presents already! Unfortunately though, before Christmas Ben went to the doctor because he just "wasn't himself" and started pulling and rubbing his ears a lot. So I took him to Prompt care first (in the middle of a terrible snow storm) and they said it wasn't an ear infection. I looked at the doctor funny and said, "Not to be rude but would you check again please? He is my third child, I know when my child has an ear infection and this is it." He looked (quickly) and said no. Grrr....This was a Sunday. The next day I got an appointment with his pedi and she looked in his ears and immediately said "Oh yes, he has a double ear infection and its pretty bad too. He went on Amox for it for 10 days. 13 days after his scrip I took him back in because I wanted to be sure it was gone and I didn't think it was. Sure enough he still had the infection in his left ear. He had this ear infection for over 3 weeks! Poor baby! After the second antibiotic it finally went away! Now he is going to a chiropractor to prevent the ear infections from reoccurring. Currently he is going 2 times per week and he is loving it and so am I! He is sleeping a little better now and he is back to his old happy self again! Some people think I am nuts for taking my baby to a chiropractor but I swear by it! It kept my first daughter from having to get tubes in her ears because she had so many ear infections before she went! I highly recommend it if your child has lots of them! Ben is eating TONS of different table foods now as well as 4-6 jars of food per day and bottles in between that! The kid loves to eat! He is still nursing and extremely attached to his momma! He is crawling fast now and starting to let go of things when he is standing up. He has even tried taking a couple of steps but falls immediately! Still having some sleep issues (STILL not sleeping through the night) but we are working on it and I can see improvement!
As for me, I was diagnosed last Thursday evening with Strep throat and a sinus infection! Yuck! Still on my antibiotic but am slowly getting better! I am seeing the chiropractor once per week right now just to build up my immune system and fight this junk faster!
So that's all that has really been going on with us! Hope you and your little ones are doing well!
Look me up on Facebook - Meighan Hopper Bloomington, Illinois
Hi Meighan! I dread having to go to walk-in or other "quick care" type places. I don't even think we have any around here, which seems weird! They never seem to get the diagnoses right. I'm glad Ben is feeling better now though! What a big guy!! I also feel like chiropractic can do a world of good. Sadly my insurance doesn't cover it otherwise with the illness that's spreading like wildfire here we'd be going! I hope you are starting to feel better too.
Don't be a stranger! We'll also need to figure out a fun spring thing to do with Shellie, Shea and Shannon!
Sounds like he's doing good besides the ear infections. What does the chiropractor do exactly that helps his ears? I've never heard of that. My dd got tubes placed at 3 months old and continued to have constant infections. I didn't know what else to do for her.
Hi meighan!! Gosh I can't believe Ben is 10 months!! I too always look at his daily pic on fb! He's a doll! Glad his infections are gone and hope it stays that way! And I hope u get better fast too!!! I agree with mylene we need to plan another get together!!
Thank you Quantum_Leap for my fabulous signature!!!
Hi Meighan! So glad that you checked in! I definitely keep tabs on you and Ben via FB and love the daily photos of him. I try and do this with Livi, but have been slacking the last couple weeks. I posted like...5 photos this weekend tho .
I would definitely be up for a get together! Livi does SO much better in the car now .
