How do you normally set your goals for losing weight?
I have always done the same---"I need to lose X amount of weight by ________."
That type of goal setting just doesn't work for me. I decided this week that I need to set smaller goals and focus on smaller weight loss for one month instead of like 6 months out. It just seems more attainable.
I've never set a weight by a certain time as a goal. I will use it as a motivator, like "I'd LIKE to be around X by X" but my 'goals' are usually what I'll do... I will drink 100 ounces of water a day. I will go to the gym at least 3x/week. I will follow weight watchers, etc.
My goals are similar to Shannon's.. to follow weight watchers and to go to the gym 3 times a week. I would like to lose 10 more pounds by the time I go home to visit (March 18th) but it won't be the end of the world if I don't. At least I'll know I've stuck to my goals!

i have noticed when i give myself a set date to lose X amount of weight by, that it always backfires and i get very stressed out and upset with myself and end up gaining.
so now i am focusing on each day----setting daily goals of healthy eating, no soda/sugary coffee drinks, drinking plenty of water and moving (even just doing the wii fit yoga) for 30 minutes a day. and.....my biggest challenge: no night time snacking!!!!!!!!

I usually try not to set goals such as losing X amount of weight by such and such day to avoid being disappointed. For now, my goal is just to stick to a certain amount of calories per day and limit processed foods. Another goal is to get into my pre-pregnancy jeans which will take losing at least another 20 lbs. When I attain that goal doesn't matter as much as that I just get there.
