Breastfeeding is really sore right now on my left side. I have been dreading nursing him because it hurts SO bad! I have a sore on my left nipple. I don't know how it got there but my guess is it was from him biting me. I can see it try to heal especially when i wake up in the morning but then he nurses and it irriates it and opens it back up (sorry, i know that sounds really gross). I need to go buy some more lansinoh cream and have been putting ice over it but don't know what else i can do to help it. No one around me seems very supportive. When i asked a lactation consultant about our BF struggles the other day she tried to tell me he might be weaning which i can tell he's not!

He's NOT weaning. Is he teething? Kolbie's latch gets funny when she's getting a new tooth in and I always get blisters. You might also want to try the gel soothing things. They can be a bit... shocking since they're cold, but they do help heal sores. Can you nurse on the right only for a day and pump the left to let it heal more?

Those gel pads are great! Try those for sure. You could also put some neosporin on it but make sure you wipe it off before he nurses. I can't believe the LC suggested he was weaning, that is a bit ridiculous.

I'd try a gel pad as well and some neosporin, just wipe it off if there are any traces before he nurses again. I had really bad cracked nipples the first few weeks when Vi was born and I was in major pain. Neosporin was the only thing that healed it up for me.

It doesn't sound like he is weaning at all, what a dumb LC!

Thanks for the help. I've been using neosporin and only pumping on that side to let it heal. It definitely seems to be doing better.
