We went for the CVS this morning and did not have it. My placenta wasn't in a good spot, and the doctor this morning felt like there may be a problem with the baby's spine. It looked like it was curved in a C shape. Since the CVS doesn't test for Neural Tube Defects they suggested I have an amnio instead. They offered to send me to a different hospital and have them try to do the CVS but I felt like at that point why have both. So the amnio is scheduled for May 9th.
They won't perform an amnio until I am 16 weeks. They are basing it off of how the baby measures, which yesterday was 13 weeks 1 day. The earliest I can have it is the first week of May but the doctor's first available appointment is May 9th. This was at the Maternal Fetal Medicine floor of the hospital. I see my regular OB on the 22nd and am hoping she may be able to do it sooner.
