But seriously........I hate exercising! Why can't I be someone that enjoys it??? Do you girls that run/exercise enjoy it or are you just really dedicated and do it anyway because that's what it takes? I'm afraid the answer is probably both! Please don't be offended here either, I'm only making fun of myself!! You girls are amazing and have such great determination and dedication....you ROCK!!

I did one day of the shred. I bought the dvd and the stupid 3 kettlebell set and there it sits. I just don't have the motivation to exercise. I can watch my diet like a stickler, but I'm sitting at this plateau and I have GOT to start exercising!!! I really need a weight loss/exercise buddy too!

I can't be alone in my despise of physical activity, can I?

Lol I think it is a little of both what has helped tremendously is I very rarely do any of my runs alone. I think Sunday was the first time in a long time. That way I have people who won't let me back out and that makes me feel obligated to show up. I run with four people straight after school on tues thurs which helps because as soon as I walk in my door, I am done for the day. Also, we vent and talk a lot on our runs. It makes it go by faster. Lastly, I notice I am in a much better place mentally when I've been consistently running. I get moody if I skip a few days. Sorry this is so rambly, but wanted to basically tell you that it gets better!! Soon it just becomes routine and you feel off if you don't do it ps. I run A LOT, but it never fails.... Shred kicks my ***!!!! Everytime!

Don't beat yourself up, Nichole! I was in the same boat...

but my history:

I played highschool sports (and was -- excuse me for saying -- a star) and I played college ball, too. I worked out all the time and LOVED it. I am competitive, loved the looks from being slim (was a fat kid, so this was new and a total rush) and how I felt totally exhausted but so freaking awesome afterwards...

Forward to years ago when I started working at the high school here as a counselor. Hated my job. didn't have time to work out. Loved the kids and my colleagues and coaching... but the rest was crap. I gained 90 pounds and hit the official BMI of "obese" CRUSHED.

I hated exercising at home. HATE it. I could not get motivated to do it AT ALL. I even tried hiring a trainer to just keep me accountable. Yeah. DId not work.

My friend gave me a free month's membership at our gym. I swore I would never go because it's about 17 minutes drive. But I have to drop Kensley at preschool 2/week so I figured, free, why not.

That was Jan 6 when I took the plunge. I LOVE the gym. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I remember who it feels, and I just can't get enough. AND, it's me time, no kiddos! (Kellen's in the gym daycare, Kensley's either at preschool or down in the gym daycare).

I was you (so to speak) for years. I swore I could not drive to work out... but now that I joined, I absolutely love it.

My long winded story is to find something you love. I tried the 30 day shred. It was OK. I have a billion work out DVD's, and there's nothing wrong with any of them except, they aren't "me". It may take you a little while, but find what you like and just jump in. If you don't like exercise, find the one you despise least

It also helps to have goals and someone to keep you accountable. After 12 years of hating what I look like in the mirror, I finally have it all in line and am steadily getting back to liking who I am.

I can help keep you accountable and set goals if you want Rewards are important too. For every week of 3-4 workouts, you can give yourself X reward... or for every amount of pounds, or whatever!

I am having fun thinking of my goals and rewards. It does help when I am not so motivated to work out but know I don't want to settle for less (or more, heh heh) of what I am.

I'm checking in! I was a gymnast my entire life, all the way through my freshman year in college. I worked out, I loved it (well most of the time anyway), and I felt like I had an awesome body. Then when I quit, I had a couple of surgeries and couldn't work out and got myself out of the routine of it. Finally, when I could work out again, I didn't have the motivation and never got it back. Now that I have 2 kids and work full time, I really don't have the time or motivation to get myself to the gym. However, I decided that I'm tired of hating my body, so I go to the gym.

Jeanine - Your awesome! I have always actually wanted to run, but never have. ha! Just haven't started it, I'm afraid I'd get down my road some and pass out, I'd have to bring my cell to call hubby to come get me!

Gwynne - I would love you to hold me accountable, or try to! Thanks for sharing all that!! Just reading that was inspirational and motivating, altho I'm still hiding behind my couch! I do just have to find something I enjoy, or hate the least!

Heather - Atleast you are DOING something! That is awesome! See, if I hated it and did work out, that would be one thing! then I could complain about working out..

How do you start a running program?? I need to find that out I think, I won't have anyone to run with me, I dont' think, but I woulnd't mind plugging an ipod in!

Thanks for your encouragement girls!!

You can try the Couch to 5K program. They have an app for it, too... and they also have music that goes with the day you are on, so the speed is perfect for either the running or walking piece you should be doing with the system. I am not doing it, but I know a lot of other girls on here are. I plan on jumping on that when I'm down a bit more. My knees are shot and running HURTS because of my weight.

I can be your buddy if you want Just let me know when you are ready to roll
