I've never been big on exercise. I was in good shape and went to the gym every morning a few months before I got pregnant with Lily, but that's been 4 years. Recently I've been disappointed in my appearance. I've lost the baby weight and am back to my pre-preggo clothing size but I just look flabby still.
So the other day I was checking out my city's parks and rec website to sign Lily up for swimming lessons and noticed a running program. I signed myself up for Couch to 5k. DH thinks I'm crazy, but I am kind of excited. This is a beginners running program to train for a 5k on July 15th. You start by walking several minutes, jog for a few minutes, and back to walking. As the weeks go on the walking time gets less and the running times increases until the last week when you just run.
I bought myself some running shoes and some workout clothes the other day. Yesterday I went over to my parents' house to let their dogs out (I'm petsitting this weekend) and I used their eliptical machine for 10 minutes. I think I managed just over a half mile in 10 minutes. I am so out of shape. This morning I got on it again and managed .82 miles in 20 minutes. My goal is to get on the eliptical machine every day until May 10th when my C25K program starts. I don't want to be dying on my very first day. Plus I need to break in my new shoes.
That's awesome! It always feels good to start a new program, I think. I really miss working out! I already can't wait to not be pregnant because my hips have been so out of place due to this pregnancy, and I haven't been able to work out during this pregnancy like I wanted to.
