I LOVE to spin. Sadly, I can't afford a membership right now, but when I do have one, I always scope out the spin classes.
First, see if your gym has a gel seat available. Mine had two that were available on a first come first serve basis. Also, once I had the instructor show me exactly how to sit on the seat, my rear didn't hurt again. I got to class about 10 minutes early and they set up my bike (and explained everything to me) and then showed me how to sit properly so my hinney wouldn't hurt.
There are lots of ways to strengthen your quad without the use of a treadmill. Squats and wall sits are the best (and hardest) way to strengthen those muscles. Make sure your form is correct when doing squats though so you don't mess up your knees. You can find lots of youtube videos and websites that go over proper form.
Thanks, this was my 2nd workout in 6 years! "is there a gasp smiley" lol and I lasted 45 of the 55 minutes of the class and I only stopped bc my butt and other area where on fire! Lol
I did zumba Tuesday but I liked the spin class way more.
I so badly want to try a spin class but I am so scared of it. LOL! I feel like I am in pretty decent shape now and have tried tons on new exercises this year but for some reason I find the spin class so intimidating. I feel like 5 minutes in I am going to be dying. I really have to just do it!

Oh as for leg exercises, squats and lunges do wonders for me.
ooh! I'd loooove to try a spin class, but am too broke to join a gym right now Or rather, I can't stand that you are obligated for a full year to any of the gyms here!! I need to find a month by month gym! Do they have the spin class with all the disco lights and 80s music? That's the class I always wanted to take Were any of you all born in the early 80s???? LOL
