If you are doing or about to start the 17 day diet, you'll see that kefir is on the list of probiotics we can choose from. I've never heard of this before, and primarily have just stuck to pill-form, yogurt and cottage cheese for my probiotic. I've had saurkraut once but without hotdogs it just feels pointless.

Anyway, kefir is on the list... and every time I say it I think of Janelle from TeenMom2's loser boyfriend. But I bought some, in low-fat blueberry flavor. Its basically like a cross between milk and yogurt -- much thicker than milk but definitely more liquid than yogurt. On the bottle it says its good poured over cereal, fruit, granola, etc. or you can just drink a glass of it. It would be AWESOME to make smoothies with.

Lily hasn't been big on carbs lately (is she my kid?!) like bread or whatever and since I'm not making potatoes/rice/pasta for dinners I have been trying to be good about offering her more in the day since she's eating mostly fruit and dairy. So I mixed a little kefir in with some cheerios and it was AWESOME b/c she can eat it with a spoon, and the o's stick since they're coated but its not runny at all like milk! and it gives them blueberry flavor -- and I love that Bug is getting some probiotics too.

So I just wanted to share my experience with this stuff b/c I'd never heard of it or noticed it in the store prior to starting this diet.

Has anyone else tried it?

I haven't tried it, but my Granny drinks it a lot. Does it actually taste good?

I am going to have to look for it when we get back to the states. The yogurt selection here leaves much to be desired. Most of the yogurt we do have is German so I can't even read the label.

I got the blueberry flavor so that's the only one I tried, but it tastes fine. Definitely good for a smoothie... and I love putting some on Bug's cereal.
