I bring her down with me in the mornings when she wakes up before 6. Well I did hear her squirming around but I never really woke up. Until I heard the thud! I feel sooooo bad!!! She landed flat on her back I assume. Her head was with in a centimeter of the corner of the night stand. All three of us were crying, poor Grace, Austin and myself. She seems to be fine, she is totally over it now. I guess I just keep an eye on her, but I can't get past feeling so horrible for allowing it to happen.

Awww.... Sweet little Grace! Don't beat yourself up. She and Kellen now both have fall stories to tell each other.

I did research on this after Kellen's spill and I guess this is a "right of passage" so to speak. It happens more than it doesn't and babies are just fine.

Kensley fell out of the shopping cart when she was about 8 mo old. Onto the hard grocery floor. That was horrifying. She's perfectly fine (and intelligent) now.

But having Kensley's fall and Kellen's recent one, I feel like a horrible mom, and I know it's not my fault. It happens.

My mom said I fell off a slide when I was 2. From the very top. Almost landed on the top of my head, which could have killed me or broke my neck, but the angels above flipped me right as I was about to land, and I landed on my back.

Obviously, I'm fine (OK, I have a few quirks...)

((HUGS)) I know exactly how disheartening it is! Angels are watching her, too, to make sure she didn't hit that nightstand.

Hat's off to Vicki for my cute siggy, thank you!

aww hun

i know how ya feel, before i realised that Vincent was able to crawl i put him in my bed and wedged him there with a pillow ( on the far side of the bed), i went out of the room briefly to go talk to hubbyy and all we heard was a large thump....and then the high pitched scream, he had rolled over the pillows in his sleep (moved them around) and rolled off the bed which i freaked out about and burst into tears. thankfully my hubby was there to help calm me and Vincent down, and Vincent had fallen on a pillow- so soft landing for his head phew!! but i blamed myself and felt so stink about it for a while

ITS NOT YOUR FAULT AT ALL - so try not to let it bring you down- you are an excellent mum and are doing a very excellent job you have a beautiful baby girl, x again

I'm sorry, Nichole! Like Gwynne said, it really is a right of passage. Max fell off my bed (which is very low) when he was about a week old. I felt like the worst mom in the world. I was sleep deprived and exhausted and nursing him. I fell asleep and he fell asleep and just slipped right off me. I cried for so long and called the doctor. He is just fine, though. He also fell out of his high chair at the babysitter's last month. And on the 4th, he was sitting on a little bump in the ground and leaned forward and face planted into the sidewalk. Babies are so much tougher than we give them credit for!

If you're a bad mom, I'm the worst mom ever! Lucy has fallen off my bed at least three times and the sofa once or twice... Each time she's fallen off the bed I go in my room to find her playing happily on the floor... Jillian never fell off of anything, but Lucy is such a daredevil that I think we'll see the ER with her more than once (Jillian is almost 5 and she's never been).

Big hugs, momma. Accidents happen no matter how hard we try to protect them. I'm so glad Grace is fine.

Same thing happened to us a few weeks ago while we were visiting the in-laws. Wren only sleeps with us for a few hours in the morning these days, but she was sleeping with us all night while away. DH moved out of the bed because he kept getting kicked, leaving me to do my best to keep her from falling out of the bed. Well, after several hours of no sleep, I finally passed out, and within an hour, I also heard the "thud" of her falling out onto her stomach. Horrible horrible sound.

Anyway, not trying to hijack, just wanted you to know that most of us, if not all, have had some type of similar accident with our LOs. You are not a bad momma! So glad Grace is okay!
Thank you for the precious siggy, Alethia!

Thanks girls! It's just with the recent events on JM it scared the crap out of me, and I felt like I totally could have prevented it. She is being super crabby this morning but she is also majorly teething. Gave her some tylenol to help with teeth and if her little head hurts too.

But thanks everyone for making me feel better, it very much did!! I love you girls!!

Gosh, I feel REALLY sappy today....stupid period!

I know something like that can make you feel like such a bad mom, but you're not. Nearly every baby I know has taken a similar tumble and turned out just fine.

I totally understand! Especially with recent events.
While we were at my parents this weekend, Eli was taking steps without holding on to anything and normally he falls on his bottom. Well he ended up tipping backwards and smacking his head on the floor. I was so scared. I checked his eyes for dilation, listened to his heart, checked his head... the most paranoid I have ever been. Reading about other baby's tragedies can really make you scared!
I'm glad Grace is doing fine now and so thankful she didn't hit the nightstand!

Hugs. I had the same thing happen to me. I was in bed with M and knew he was awake, but the sleep took over me and them BOOM... It is scary, but I am glad she is doing just fine. I am sure now you will be much more careful, I guard Milan like a pice of gold .. they are so quick at this age. I would have killed DH if it was him.. I could not believe it happened while I ( his mommy, his biggest protector ) was with my baby boy.

Poor Grace and poor mommy! I know it's super scary when they fall like that (especially because of what happened). We all have had those moments. I hope she's feeling better!
Thank you JAIDYNSMUM for my adorable new siggy!
