And the verdict is that she has serious hearing loss at this time. She also still has a massive amount of fluid built up in her ears. It has been there since February and nothing has cleared it up. So we are taking the next obvious step and Geni is having surgery next Friday to have her Adenoids removed and tubes put in.

I hope this fixes all her problems. The doctors are very optimistic so I will keep you all updated!!

He said at most the procedure will take 20 minutes. So we will be going home within a couple of hours. It isn't a big deal just scary for me.

I know this will help her hearing. She will be good as new. Can you believe what she would be doing if she didn't have this fluid messing with her hearing and balance?

Luckily we are addressing this before she has any developmental delays. We are trying to be as proactive as possible. They say it's easier to treat the problem before it even becomes a problem.

I'll keep you all updated on Geni.

I'm glad the procedure isn't long!!! And you're right it's best to know and get it done now before it does really affect her. She'll be one happy girl soon!

We may be on that path soon too (and have already had it done with our son). It definitely made a huge difference for him!

I think we were at the surgery center for <1.5 hours. He had tubes put in and his tongue clipped, nothing with his adenoids though.

Has she had a lot of ear infections from the constant fluid?

Poor baby girl! She'll be just fine though. My oldest son had to get tubes when he was 15 months. Numerous ear infections were also causing him hearing loss and balance issues. The procedure was very quick and he was fine afterwards. He learned to "finally" walk the very next day and his hearing was greatly improved as well. Geni will have the same outcome

Geni is so close to walking now that I'm sure the next day she will take off running.

She actually has had NO INFECTIONS. But the fluid isn't going away. They said after this long it's likely more of almost a "gel like substance" and can eventually cause scarring. I don't know...it was a lot of information.

I'm also doing a quick check on the surgeon. My cousin(who I've always known as my uncle) is one of the best ENT's in this area so I'm giving him a call later to get a quick second opinion and to get his thoughts on this surgeon.

I'm just glad that something is being done and my baby won't feel like she's trapped in a bubble.
