Topic taken from Aug 2011 Playroom - post is different though!

Is your LO using one?

If so, when do you plan on getting rid of it?

Yep...we still have them, however they don't leave the crib. She's really good about dropping them in there when I pick her up from bed and lately when she's tired she will go to her crib.

I don't know when wevwill get rid of them. It used to bug me shevstill had them but with the new baby now I don't really care. She's still little and it's not likebshe walks around with it in her mouth all day.

Livi still has one too. We will try getting rid of them around 2 I think. I don't really care either as long as she isn't going to school with one! lol

Nope.

We got rid of them cold turkey at about 13 months. Jed didn't even seem to care! Now I wonder if he will try to steal them from his baby sister once she arrives...

Yep. I'm one of THOSE moms. Actually for both kids. We're going to have Santa leave gifts in exchange for DS's binkies. And probably Lauren's too. Or, we have a nephew due in early November so they may give them up for the baby.

We're going on a trip tomorrow and I think it will help both in the plane. The main problem is DS looks 4 and is 2, so he seems gigantic to have a bink, but I wasn't ready to deal with fights before now.

Never used a binkie with the three youngest, but my oldest had it until he was 3.

Not officially... Kolbie has found a few recently and will walk around with them in her mouth, but she doesn't need them. I find no harm in it really since it's been giving my boobs a break DH yells at her to spit them out but he doesn't really take them from her either.

Just for naps and bedtime. She's sneaky sometimes and manages to reach into her crib and grab it during the day but I put it back. I will probably wait until she's 2 to get rid of it. Lily was 3 before I finally took it away. The Paci Fairy came the night of her birthday and took it to give to other babies. Wink wink.

Neither of my girls ever had one. Both suck their thumb when they're going to sleep though.

Yup, Addisyn still has hers. She only gets it for nap and bedtime. I'll be taking it away when she understands what the paci fairy is.

Nope I took Camden's away months ago but it wasn't at all difficult because he was never all that attached to it.

I took Riley's away around 3 months, I think. Then, around 7 months, she suddenly started sucking her thumb. She only sucks her thumb when she has her special blanket ("dankie") and that stays in the crib, so I'm hoping that it's an easy habit to break. If not, I'm going to wish I were breaking the paci habit rather than the thumb habit.

The only time Alex got one was when he was in the NICU. After he came home I got rid of it because he didn't really use it that much. My dd was to lazy to keep it in her mouth when she was a baby. She would use it if you held it in her mouth for her, so I threw them away before she was 2 months old. My ds really liked his, but he only liked the one from the hospital. I couldn't find one exactly like it as backup, so when I lost it he quit using them. I think he was about 3 months old when I lost it. Which actually when we moved a year ago I ended up finding it in an old diaper bag. I thought it was pretty funny because I don't even remember using that diaper bag which is probably why I could never find it. I told my dh that it must have been his fault because he was the only one to ever use that bag. Lol.

Neither of mine were interested in them, though we offered and tried different ones when they were little. Once in a while Meghan will find one and chew on it for ten seconds before getting bored.
