Michelle, it is unthinkable to me not to put my seat belt on as well, but my hubby's family (him, his sister, etc.) seem to do it all the time, and we're the same age and group up in the same city, so I think it is really just a personal thing. The two students who died from t \hat this year at our school, were also drinking though, so bad choices all around.

This weekend we celebrated Amber's birthday. We had a bouncy house for her party. The kids had great fun. Also, we went out with my parents for an early father's day dinner last night and tonight I'm taking dh out for one.

I hate potty training stuff. GL in the next two months. Even though Amber has been like 100% pee trained for a while now, I'm still worried we won't make it for poop training. She is getting better though, just not good yet.

Welcome back Kim.

Just popping in to say hello I haven't been on JM in ages, and thought it was time to start dipping my toes back in!

We are all really well. Emersyn turned 3 yesterday... Gabrielle will be 7 in October. I've been married for two months now & have a 9yo step daughter, Eloise, and a 5yo step son, Aidan. Life is crazy busy... I'm in my first year of my bachelor of communication, my first step toward a career in journalism. We made the big move to live up here, in January, so it's been a big year of change for us!

Good morning!

Kim, welcome home! Looked awesome. Does it seem like a distant memory already?

Emma, welcome back! Looks like it has been big changes for you, How have your girls adjusted to the growing family? Congrats on being back in school.

4 more days of school left. It's going slow like molasses! The kids are so tired and grumpy these days. So am I, for that matter.

I had such a nice weekend with my brother and his little family. I'm so blue that they are gone. Holly's birthday is on Thursday and I'm excited but also frustrated because my Dad is complicating things and Holly's birthday has always been so uncomplicated and lovely.

Hi Emma, congrats on your marriage and going back to school. It's nice to hear that you're happy and everything is going well.

Michelle, what kind of trouble is your dad up to?

Dh made a sad discovery this weekend. He found the mother bird and one of the baby birds next to the house. Not sure what happened to the other 3 babies. The daddy bird has come by a couple of times to look for them. It was so sad.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi Emma, congrats on everything! Sounds great!

So sad Jennifer poor birdies!

and yes my vacation seems like it was ages ago already, slowly getting back into the swing of work and chores and all that jazz.

Hope you cheer up Michelle! I am in a bit of a grumpy funk myself *sigh*

Hi guys!

Jennifer, that's awful. I'm no fan of birds but I don't want bad things to happen to any creatures

No biggie with my Dad, he was just kind of inviting a handful of people that I barely know and that Holly doesn't know at all. We've sorted it out though and now it will just be him attending. I don't know if I should bother inviting my mom though. They aren't pals and although there would never be drama or anything, I know it would be awkward for my mom.

2 and a half days of school and babysittee left. Woooooooooo!!!!!

I'm glad everything got worked out. For your mom, you could always invite her to celebrate later/earlier in the day. Or else leave it up to her to decide if she wants to be around your dad.

James finally has an appointment tomorrow with a specialist in children's dietary issues (not sure what his title is). So after nearly 3 years of issues, we are on our way to getting real answers. It will mean blood work and allergy testing, but whatever it takes (says the person who won't be having the testing done).

Michelle, did Holly request anything special for her birthday?

Hope everyone is a little less grumpy today!

Good morning!

We are off to a good birthday start, sunshine and good moods. Jennifer, that's exactly what I ended up doing with my mom, just waiting to hear back from her.

It will be good to get some answers for James! And the people who will be doing the more unpleasant things are pros at doing that stuff on kids and will surely make it seem like nothing for him. But it will still probably be hard on you

Special requests from Holly: balloons, party hats, that I "don't cook" (read: get take out) and a Clifford dog she saw at the store. Her wish is my command

Have a great day, guys!

Cute giraffe! I saw a picture this week of two giraffes sticking their head in someone's window and the woman is feeding them veggies. It was cool.

Happy Birthday Holly! I loved your Facebook post about her. Very sweet. I hope you get enough take out for everyone she invited!

Last day of school today! Then DH and Leah are going camping this weekend. They are both very excited. They had a trial in our backyard last weekend with James. He's not ready to be away from me and I'm not willing to sleep in a tent, so he's staying home with me. I'd be lonely by myself anyways... maybe... eventually...

Good morning!

Holly had a super birthday. The role of birthday girl suits her to a T. She had such a busy, exhausting, sugar fueled day and never lost her smile or her cool the entire time. We'll probably pay for it today Plus my Mom and Dad hung out, had dinner, cake, etc and it wasn't awkward at all. It was even pleasant. A birthday miracle!

Today is our last school day/last babysittee day! Wooooo! I haven't given much thought to the fact that this little guy who has spent half his life with me (6 months!) wont be around anymore and I have a feeling I might be a little blindsided with sad later? In the meantime Jenifer, did you get sad when your charges left?

Hope Leah and your dh have fun camping! Where do they usually go? I'm excited to take my guys out camping for the first time this year.

Any fun weekend plans Kim?

I'm going to drink champagne and eat bbq tonight with my Dad, brother and some out of town relatives. We're trying to find a sitter for tomorrow because some friends are playing a big outdoor concert and it would be fun to go but it might rain tomorrow night in which case no sitter would be a perfect excuse to stay home and dry

Happy Friday girls! Glad Holly had a wonderful birthday! and glad your mom and dad had a non awkward time! my DHs parents are divorced but they are still great friends, I guess some people are better off friends than spouses! ha!

We have a party to go to tomorrow, an old friend I reconnected with recently after ohhhh nearly 10 yrs! her son is turning 9 and they are having a baseball game birthday party with swimming and cake and beer (for the adults only of course! ha) after the game, should be fun! As an added funny her son's name is Jeremy but Sydney for some reason cannot get it straight and calls him "German" bahahahha cracks me up!

Have a lovely weekend ladies!

Kim, what a fun idea for a birthday party! Hope everyone has a great time. How is your "soul-mate" couple that you met a long time ago and had some dates with? Are you guys still in touch?

Michelle, there was only one boy that was hard to say goodbye too, which is why I took him back when James was a newborn. He was with us from 6 months - 3 years. He kind of felt like my own kid and he was like a brother to Leah. And we only saw them once or twice after he stopped coming. It was rough at first, but then when Leah started school, I saw that he would have been so crazy bored with just a baby to play with, so I knew I had done the right thing by suggesting preschool.

We saw the doctor yesterday. He didn't ask too many questions. He felt J's tummy and gave a diagnosis and suggested a completely new (strict) diet to try for about 6 months and we'll see how James is doing then. I also have to get three poop samples by the end of next week. I guess it's a good thing he's not potty trained yet. The diet is drastic for James (no gluten, nothing sweet, no potatoes or bananas or a few other things). Sadly, those are kind of staples for him. It will be easier to get it figured out without Leah and DH here though, complaining about all the changes in our meals and snacks (since it really has to be a family affair).

DH and Leah left earlier this afternoon. James went to sleep early and I am already bored. I could work, but who wants to work on a Friday night? Tonight would be a good night for an active board or a PR chat.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Awww poor birdies. That's sad. It reminds me of finding Nemo's beginning.

Happy belated birthday to Holly.

This week was very hard for me. Not only was it super busy with class, but we got bad news and then with Lucy passing in my most recent PR I just was sort of in emotional free fall. I'm glad it is the weekend now!

Christen, I'm sorry you had a rough week. I hope a weekend with the family helped turn things around.
It was so sad to read about baby Lucy's passing.

Our weekend was pretty successful. Leah and DH had a fun weekend camping, but are covered in bug bites. Leah had a swollen eye, forehead and ankle when she got home, from so many bites. But she loved the weekend. James enjoyed 98% of the movie. We sat by the aisle, and he walked around and watched on and off. It was crowded, which was nice. Right before the end (I'm assuming), he decided he wanted to go. I only expected him to make it to the previews, so I was impressed.

His new diet is so challenging. He doesn't like his fruit or veggies, and anything I've baked (muffins, bread, crackers) has been a bust so far. He's not crying as much when I say he can't have his usuals, so at least there's that... Leah is on board with the new life change though, which is helpful, since he looks up to her. Oh well. It's only day 4.

Hope everyone is doing well and has a good week. Ours is busy. Getting ready for J's birthday this weekend.

Morning ladies....who is Lucy? I must of missed something

Good luck with the diet change Jennifer, he will get used to it and it will be ok, the beginning will be rough but hopefully it works itself out!

We had a nice weekend, birthday party on Saturday and then Sunday we had a BBQ at our house....We do still see our couple soul mates haha, although I am not convinced they are our soul mates any more loll I mean they are nice and all but I don't know, maybe soul mates was a bit premature

It's only Tuesday, how can that be?!

Good morning!

How's summer vacation going for you guys, Jennifer? I'm surprised at how much the lack of structure is freaking me out, but I'm getting into it. This week is kind of behaviour bootcamp for O, because if we are going to make it through the summer together he is going to need to change his attitude about some stuff!

Christen, hope things are going better this week.

Where's Kim?

Oh, she's right there! Hi Kim!

I can't handle lack of structure and Leah is the same, so we have a summer schedule. It seems to be working out well so far. We do an activity together in the morning (I have a bunch in a box and they pick one out when we get up). Then lunch, quiet time, independent play, snack, tv, outside play, dinner, family walk/park. We worked on her attitude over the last couple of months, so that should be ok until she goes back to school. Our focus this summer is the kids playing independently. So it's actually included in our daily schedule.

So far, we've only picked two activities. Monday was a wading pool and yesterday we went to one of the beaches. Today, we had a playdate, so we didn't have to pick something.

I want this week to slow down a bit. We have so much to do before the weekend! The good thing (sort of?) is that DH's family prefers staying at hotels when they come visit, so we'll only have my brother staying with us. But we still have a lot of cleaning and organizing to do before people show up. James is so excited though. I love that. He's been talking about it non-stop since he saw a light sabre at the toy store a few weeks ago (which is one of his gifts).

I'm sorry James' diet isn't working out too easily. That'd be hard. I'm picturing LJ on a specific diet, because he is so picky to begin with, that'd be killer.
