I am making a calendar of ideas for the Elf to do each day but running out of ideas...what are some things you'll do/have done?

Did you see the toilet paper idea? You put Elf in the bathroom and write the number of days till Christmas on a long strip of toilet paper and have the Elf sitting on or near it as though he wrote it.

We're pretty boring, but places he has sat are:

curio cabinet-either sitting on the top edge or hanging from the door knob
grandfather clock-same as cabinet
hanging from the fan blade
wedged into the blinds
hiding in the tree
on top of thick picture frames
on top of mantel
on top of tv
on bookshelf in their room
on fridge

I found a bunch of ideas on interest! I think my favorite is having him making a snow angel in flour or powdered sugar!

Lindsey, my mom got Max and Elf, and he likes it and points to it, but really, I think if it were up to me, I would have waited a year or two. He definitely doesn't get it, and gets mad that he can't touch, maul, or eat the Elf.

I can't remember if we got it when my oldest was 3.5 or 4.5 years old. I know I got it as soon as I had heard about it!

Our elf, Wayne, has been with us for about a week now. So far he has:

Made his appearance through a heating vent with a note.
Hung all the kids undies on the tree.
Made a fort out of the kids' movie collection.
Made a snowman out of marshmallows.
Brought a small treat for each kid with a note about how they'd been good.
Drew faces on the kids' pictures on the wall with a dry erase marker. (the favorite so far)
Played a board game with Buzz, Woody, and Jessie.
Ate the rest of the oreos and m&ms and passed out under the tree.

I am taking pictures every day and documenting on my blog: The Hibblog

Krista!!! What creative ideas! This is so cute!

What age is good for this Elf business? When would they be able to understand? I might get one and store it away

Our elf arrived tonight! She rang our doorbell and was sitting on the front step waiting with the Elf on the Shelf book. Jillian named her Eddi and her antics will begin tomorrow! (we will be doing a lot of the same things you ladies listed )

Thanks, Kelli. Most of my ideas were stolen from Pinterest, so I can't take credit there. I started the elf last year and he was really just hanging around "watching" the kids for Santa. They enjoyed that, too. I decided to get in on the mischief this year and they LOVE it, but they are 5 and 3.
