We always watch the ball drop! When we lived in NY we used to run outside at Midnight and bang pots and pans.... we tried that down here once and I think people thought we were nutso! It might just be a northern tradtion? Maybe a long isand tradition? Maybe an Italian tradition? I don't really know

We stay up until midnight and watch the ball drop on TV. Last year, we let the older 3 kids stay up (before, it had just been the older 2) and we will do that again this year. We were invited to a friend's house and I think dh's mom would have babysat but he didn't really want to go.
New Year's Day, we just try to sleep in as much as we can and go to my parents' house for lunch. Nothing too exciting.

Stay home away from the drunks. We usually don't even last until midnight. Yes, we're old farts.

We always watch the ball drop, shoot off fireworks, and have a big pot of black eyed peas with rice for "good luck" in the new year We are in Fairhope AL this year, and will be going to the Grand Hotel for NYE for the festivities!!

Being alone DH has always had to work New Years Eve, we've never spent it together. Not having a pity party about it though, we'd most likely have a quiet night at home.

We don't do anything either. It's kind of just a normal night/day for us. I do always make sure to put some cash into my pocket when midnight hits -- someone told me that you should have anything (& anyone) that you want in the new year when it arrives. NYE 2009, I wrote BFP on a piece of paper -- and got my BFP a few days later.

We always did the pots and pans thing as kids, too!! So I'm assuming it's a Northern thing?

Now, though, I don't really have any traditions.
