The Sunday Supper thread got me thinking... Do you plan your meals out in advance or make them up on the fly as you go along? If you plan, what are you and your family eating this week? If you make it up as you go, what's for dinner tonight?
I am a total planner. I have no idea what I would get at the store if I didn't plan out the menu for the week and make a list. We sometimes switch things to different nights depending on our moods, but generally stick to the plan.
We are having:
BBQ Meatballs with sweet potatoes and mixed veggies, Potato cheese soup with salad, Tacos also with salad, BBQ chicken with rice and broccoli and Pizza with either fruit or salad depending on what is left at the end of the week.
To the Amazing Kelly: Thank you once again!! Amazing only begins to cover it.
I keep a list on the fridge of all the meals we like and (in theory) at the beginning of the week I pick 5 things and shop accordingly. I try to add a new meal every week or two, if it's a hit it gets added to the list. It saves me a lot on groceries doing it this way and also saves my sanity too. We are going on vacation tomorrow so I can forget about that stupid list for a week, yay!
I plan our meals on Sundays before we do grocery shopping. Tonight we had spicy garlic lime chicken, tomorrow will be tostadas, Wednesday is turkey meatloaf, and Thursday will be chili beans with cornbread. Fridays we eat out and on the weekends we make what we have in the pantry and fridge.
**Thank you .h00dihoo.this. for my awesome siggy!**
We usually decide when we get up that morning and take the meat out of the freezer. Tonight we are having baked swordfish (PB&J for Elliot most likely since she is the pickiest eater as of late) and some kind of veggie. Most likely broccoli for me and the kiddo since that is her fave, maybe some carrots and peas and DH will probably have spinach.
