Have any of you gotten your LO's eyes checked? I have not, Logan had a vision check today at school which made me wonder if any of you have gone to the eye dr?

I am taking Logan (he was refered from the school ... sending me into a panic) so I am getting an appointment for Gavin too

The sheet sent home from school says every child after 6 months should be checked..... just food for thought (and so you don't have to feel guilty like me for not taking Logan before now)

i haven't for DS or for DD yet. For DS i'm going to b/c he's over 4 now .. and stands close to things - so he's showing signs. Not yet for Kaylee though ... she isn't showing me any signs that she needs one. I didn't get my first eye exam until i showed signs at 11.

Callie there are so many different insurances here in the states. It really depends on your situation.

I have not had Easton's checked yet but plan to when we all go in this year. Its free with hubby's work insurance. Hopefully there won't be a need for glasses and it will be more of an experience that he can get use to. Ashley didn't get glasses until she was 5 and Brandon was 7.

We didn't take Nathan until right before Kindergarten started, but he wasn't showing any signs of needing to either. That will be the plan for the other kids, unless their regular doc suggests it based on checking their eyes or if anything seems odd. I have glasses, hubby had corrective surgery, my mom and dad and 3 sisters all have glasses/contacts and hubby's mom, sister, and brother all have them too. Only his dad doesn't, but he's color blind, so still have issues! So it's more of a when than if the kids will need them.

I haven't, and I figure I'll do what a lot of the other PPs have suggest and wait until school aged unless it seems like he needs it.

My insurance doesn't cover it. I could add Max to my vision, but it would be $20 a month, which would be more than paying for an eye exam out of pocket.

I just took DS#1 this year, he is 3. with the girls I took them at 3/4 then depending on the report how many times after that. DD#2 has a lazy eye so she has been wearing glasses to correct that. So we have been there every 6 months with her. Hoping this next one she can take them OFF !!!

I take my kids to see an opthalmologist when they turn 2. I have a condition that can be hereditary, so I want to make sure I catch it early if one of my kids happens to have it.

We did, but only because there is a program here that some practices participate in that allow you to get a free full exam for children younger than 1. It was actually really neat to see their techniques for a baby!!
I am sorry you are worried and feeling guilty about Logan! HUGS! You've done nothing wrong!!
