I have an something happen to me on Tuesday and I can't shake it. So here is what happened.
I took Cam to the doc and he prescribed him some medication. I told him to send it to the Walgreens next to my house (which we have never been to). I get there to pick it up and he has me verify Camerons DOB and prescription. He tells there was an issue with his prescription and the insurance company had it on hold. I let him know that we just got new insurance for Cam and I had my cards for him and we have never used a Walgreens pharmacy until today. He insisted that we were from Indiana (which we have never been or lived there) so I showed him my drivers license and insurance card again. He put the correct info but let me know that there in another child with the same name and DOB as my son.
Is this a coincidence or do you think there is something fishy going on? Now days you just never know. Could someone have taken Camerons identity? How can I see if someone is using his name or other info? Maybe I'm paranoid but I think it's better to be safer than sorry.
**Thank you .h00dihoo.this. for my awesome siggy!**
I would think it was just a coincidence. My ex has the same name and DOB as someone who lives on the other side of the state, only his middle name is spelled differently (same middle name, just spelled different). This other guy has all kind of criminal history and it caused problems on occasion, but nothing a SSN check couldn't over come. I would tend to think using a young child's identity to get prescriptions would be mostly worthless.....what doctor is going to say you are a two year old child and prescribe anything hard core.....and even then what pharmacist wouldn't question hard prescriptions being given to a toddler? Seems more likely to me that they just have the same name and DOB.
I'd also say coincidence. A couple years ago we got a prescription filled for DH at a Walgreens. When he gave them his name and DOB they were able to pull up his file with a FL address... where he hadn't lived since he was 10! It actually was him and I guess he hadn't used a Walgreens pharmacy since then. But I guess they have a LOT of records in their system.
Plus I have found that some pharmacy tech tend to be a bit slow... we went the other day to get Jax medicine at the same pharmacy that our family has been going to for 6 years and they swore we had never been to that pharmacy and had no record of Jaxon or myself or DH... He probably just didnt know what he was looking at! haha
It is fairly common even for people with odd names (I'm not saying he has one, I'm just saying for everyone) to run into somebody at some point in their life either online or in RL who does have the same name...but same DOB too, that is a little odd. However, if this wasn't related to a SSN I would assume it was just weird and not worry.
