Your toddler has a toy that he loves, you hate it, it's noisy and a pain in the butt to put together everytime they want to play with it. Do you think it's mean to toss it?

No, it's not mean. I've done it before and my kids hardly notice it's gone.

My in-laws bought our older DD a keyboard from a yard sale when she was a toddler. Its volume control was broken and every time someone bumped into it or tapped a key it would automatically play the same song loudly. We hid it from her! I don't even know where it is now

So, if it's annoying enough... I think it's our responsibility to make it disappear in some form or fashion. At least for a little bit. Think of it as a mini vacation for your sanity!

yeah - I've done it before too - although it's never been something she's been super attached to.

There've really only been a couple of toys that found their way to a new home in that way - and well, they were dismembered almost within 24 hours of coming through the door.

Was it a gift?

We have a few things like that. Seems my in-laws like giving toys that are annoying and loud. I have not gotten rid of them yet, but they land in places where they get forgotten. I have also brought them back to the in-laws so that "Sophia would have a toy to play with". For now I tolerate it and let her play with it every now and then.

But if you pull your hair out over this toy I would donate it to charity. No sense you getting upset over a toy. You need your sanity to function.

Oh what is it? A drum set?
