At what age would you allow your kids to sleep in a top bunk or loft bed?

im not sure, we bought the kids a bunk bed for when they get a bit bigger im not sure when we will put it up for them, maybe when Ross is 4 or 5, im curious to see what others say

but the bunk beds we got are lower than most (well atleast i think they are) the top bunk is about 5 feet above the ground

My DS was 7 when we let him sleep on the top bunk. Prior to that they are still too wild. Isabelle is almost 5 but I wouldn't let her just yet. Mind you I have a love/hate relationship with bunk beds. They sure are space savers, but I stopped counting how many times I bumped my head while saying good night. No more bunk beds in my house.

Ollie is in a high bed now but it isnt as high as a loft bed. It's called a cabin bed. He is 2.

I think I started around 7 or 8. It depends on the child and the type of bed railings.

I think it depends on the child and the kind of rails that are used too.

Honestly, I might consider putting Maggie in one in another year or two if that's what was practical. 4 doesn't seem unreasonable to me at all.

I was thinking 4 or 5. We are in the process of buying a house and I was going to buy my 5 year old a set of bunk beds.

I also agree on the maturity of the child and how easily they can get in or out.

for me it depends on whether or not they can climb up and down safely in the middle of the night when they have to go pee, without getting hurt or peeing themselves.

Good question. I am not sure what age. I think I was 7 or 8 when I slept in a bunkbed. We probably won't do bunkbeds since we only have 1 child right now. I can't think that far ahead into the future.
