I think we are ready to get a potty. Which one do you recommend for a girl? And what toilet seat do you recommend?

I was thinking this one for the seat and the baby Bjorn for the potty. Why are they so expensive? Do the cheap ones work well, too?

I was looking on-line. Reading reviews and it seems that girls need a different seat than boys? IDK. I have never done potty training and know nothing about it.

Any helpful tips are greatly appreciated. Anything I should not do/should do?

Who is training right now?

Thanks ladies!

We just use a cheap seat that sits on top of our regular toilet seat to keep her from falling in.

yeppers - cheap seats all the way around.

We have the cheap padded one from walmart that sits over the toilet, and we have a couple cheap folding ones for carrying with us when we're out. I think one has sesame street people on it, and the other is disney princess. I also got a portable potty for the main floor since our bathrooms are all up or down a set of stairs. She's used them all equally well...we've since had a complete regression and are now full time wearing pull ups and not asking to go potty ever, so I've taken away the portable seat from our kitchen, and when she's ready again, we'll go straight to the seat on the toilet.

This is definitely one area where I'd lean to not overspending.

Haha! Ellie has the Cars one too! She loves the button that makes the sound.

Oh good. I am glad cheap seats work. Thanks for your response.

Also wondering why the one girl got banned? Didn't she just join our group?

Yeah, but I had thought that when she originally posted she sounded awfully familiar, like a girl who had joined several times (in other PR's and DDC's) and turned out to be a troll. So, I'm assuming admin noticed her and banned her again.

personally I hate any kind of potty seat, because I can't stand having to clean it every time. and my kids never liked them anyways. we just went straight onto the toilet with a little cushy seat insert. I usually get something like spongebob or princess or whatever the kids like. then they are more likely to sit on it.

I got the Elmo potty seat. She loves it. She wants to go diaper-free all the time. But I am not that comfortable yet and I put her back in her diaper after she sits on the potty for a while.

I think she knows when she has to go. She tells me "pee pee" and wants to sit on the potty. But she gets up, stands next to the potty and then pees standing up. I guess that's the first step?

Where is everybody else in their potty training?

I got 2 books on potty training that I started reading. Hopefully there is some good info in there.

Pull ups are freaking expensive too!
