I was reading up on ideas to do with your toddler at home.

Do you have any nifty ideas you want to share?

Anybody try the painting with chocolate pudding? I tried today, but she wanted a spoon and ate the pudding. How do you make your kid paint with pudding?

We painted a clay horse today. They were selling a Melissa & Doug pack of 2 horses with paint for $4.99 at TJMAXX. It took Sophia 1 hour to paint one horse and she was really intense about painting it the "right" color. The horse is very colorful! She loved the paint itself and was opening and closing the lids for additional entertainment. Once the horse is dry I will take a pic and attach it. Could be a X-Mas present or a toy for her.

LOL...that's funny about the pudding paint. I think the point of pudding paint is that at least it is edible and non-toxic. hehehe...It's also the reason I never let her do it.

Maggie does crafts at school, but at home we haven't had a huge opportunity. I tried to do valentine's decorations with her, and that was challenging. I tried to do a gingerbread house, and she just ate the candies. We tried to decorate easter sugar cookies and she ate the cookies. She didn't do too bad with colouring easter eggs but it was a monstrous mess - she just wanted to play with the coloured water and make them splash - not so good for mommy.

I'm still tempted to look at Halloween crafts, but am thinking I'm dumb at the same time. Let the preschool deal with craft clean up ... they send them home anyway! lol

Seriously though Maggie loves helping me cook. She's always on the counter when i make her breakfast, and she's 9 times out of 10 on a chair with me when I'm making dinner. We take all the right precautions, but she's totally engrossed in it. You can get her to help you make a pudding dessert or something. I let her mix cheerios and whatever else is handy so she feels like she's actually making something too. Get her to help you make rice krispie treats into fun shapes.

Hah! I think you are right. Pudding is not for painting. I like your idea of letting the LO help cook. I will try that.

I have been wanting to do the handprint stepping stone for a while. I think I will go get a kit. Thanks for the idea! Can you share a pic how yours turned out?
