Is your LO afraid or completely mortified by something?

What is it and what do you do to calm down your LO?

The fan...LOL.

I usually try to walk him by it to show him it's ok, he never wants anything to do with it.

Lawnmowers, vacuumcleaners and now baths.

With the lawnmower I carry her past the lawnmower and tell her it's ok.

With the vacuum cleaner I tell her it's just a little while to clean. She runs away and hides.

She recently started to freak out about bath time. Now we give her sponge baths in the kitchen using a little tub. She enjoys it and has fun. But get her near the bathroom for bath time it's screaming/freaking out and begging "no bath!" I don't understand what happened. She is terrified of the bath. She used to love it.

When I holler for DH from one floor of the house when he's in the basement. She hates that.

Maggie did this to me too - I couldn't give her a bath for months. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me, and there were many tears shed by both of us. I couldn't believe my kid who loved bath time, happily swims all day long if she could, plunks her own face into the pool water, would be terrified of the bath. Seriously Ter. Iff. Ied.

Turns out, it was water in her face that she was flipping out about. When I finally had enough and hunkered down, I got her a Tinkerbell bath mat, bubbles, tub crayons and one of those flexible buckets for rinsing her hair.

Her first few weeks back in the tub, we used a cloth to rinse out her hair. It's painful, takes forever but it helped me get her eased back into things. Tub crayons also helped. Recently I had to get DH to give her a bath, and I could hear the screeching from the other room. Obviously he got water in her face while rinsing her hair, and she flipped out. Didn't take as long to get her back into it, but getting her to raise her face so we don't get water in it is still a battle. And bath time is now ALWAYS my responsibility. Good luck hon. I know how hard that was on me, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Thanks Becky. You are right it was soap and water in the eyes/face that freaked her out (at least I think it was). I will follow your lead and get a few bath gadgets for her. It makes me so sad that her favorite bath time now is horror to her.

Miranda doesn't like loud noises, like the house alarm going off, but I think that's normal. She just plugs her ears. But she is terribly afraid of hair. If she sees a strand of hair lying on the ground she will point to it and freeze and I have to pick it up and throw away. If there is a hair lying on her, she will scream and cry and not move until I take it off her. She's a bit weird. LOL
And she's starting to be scared of the cat.

^^ does the cat's hair fall out when you pet it?

You might have a meltdown in the offing.
