Yesterday was actually the anniversary of it, it has been 27 years since the Challenger disaster. I know some of you are WAY to young to have even been alive, but if you were, do you remember what you were doing? How did you hear about it?

I was 1. I honestly don't remember it, but I do remember my mom talking about it after the fact. I also know it's a huge part of the reason my mom spent all of my pre-teen/teenage life convincing me not to be an astronaut.

I was 13. We were near NASA (NM) and my mom was working that day, so our town had it all over, basically everything shut down. Sad, sad, sad. We saw it on TV in school and even though our NASA site didn't have much to do with the explosion or parts, it was still a tremendous tragedy and so the town mourned. Tragic.

I was in 2nd grade, a few classrooms of kids gathered around 1 small tv to watch. I remember it had been such a big deal because there was a teacher on board (otherwise I doubt we would have been watching it).

I remember watching it on tv in class. I'm sure that a teacher being on board was the reason we where watching all so.

I was in 5th grade. I don't remember if we were supposed to watch it or not, but I do remember my teacher talking to us about what had happened. I remember going home that night and watching the coverage of it on TV.

On a side note, the anniversary of the Columbia disaster is coming up as well this week -- 10 years. Plus, the Apollo launch pad fire anniversary (from the late 60s where three astronauts died) is also this week. Very sad week for NASA.

Wow, 10 years already since Columbia? Makes sense though.....I was still teaching then. Hard to believe I've been "retired" for almost 8 years now!

And today is the Columbia, 10 years. That one was odd for me b/c we were driving into Dallas from Houston and saw some strange streaks in the sky to find out later what we must have actually been viewing. That was creepy and sad
