Teresa had been struggling with learning her colors and after watching those Preschool Prep DVD (about a million times it seems, Ifind them really annoying!) she knows them!

Then over the weekend, at my mom's, she kept standing in front of the clock, pointing and saying: Oh there's #! Since she was just pointing into the air, I didn't really think she could identify each one. My mom took down the clock, asked her numbers out of order and she got all of them! I couldn't believe it!

Now I guess I'll have her watch the letters DVD! As far as shapes, she knows circle, square, rectangle, heart, star, and triangle, which I feel is plenty for now!

How is your LO doing? How are they growing up this fast??????

OK... Kellen is not doing this at all. He's into colors, but still gets them mixed up.

Soooo.... what DVD's are you talking about!? They sound great! Are they on Netflix, too?

Gwynne- Preschool Prep DVDs | Preschool Prep Company

Someone (I think Christina) had posted a Groupon deal before Christmas (on the FB group) and I got 10 DVDs for $40!

I think Netflix has some of the Leap Frog learning ones. We've rented some of those from the library before and those helped Lukas learn his letters.

That would be a big no. He'll identify things by color ("Look at the blue truck!") correctly, but if I ask him ("What color is the truck?") he doens't do well. Shapes he knows pretty well. Some letters. I'm not sure he could identify a number if I asked him to.

Yes, Grace knows her colors, shapes numbers and most letters. I take very little credit here..between the dvd's (we've only ever watched the letters though" and tv..she has picked it up.

Colors: Not at all and we haven't really worked it. I guess I think he still has plenty of time.
Numbers: He doesn't identify #s but can sometimes count up to 10 correctly. He can distinguish between letters and numbers.
Letters: We just played with his leapfrog game earlier and he correctly identifies C, E, B, F, J, L, M, O, P, R, S, U, Y
Shapes: He knows circle and diamond.

Drake does know his numbers, colors, and most of the letters. He can count up to 10 or more but as of late if he is looking at a picture and there are for example 4 apples he is prone to saying "1, 2, 9, 10" LOL.

Oh definitely, they have plenty of time left!!! I was just curious. Honestly it shocked me that Teresa picked up on the numbers like she has, but she has loved counting for a long time! She claims my calculator as hers.

And I admit that it excites me/lets me breathe a sigh of relief to see her picking up on things easily since all these things were a struggle for Lukas!

That's awesome! We love the Preschool Prep DVDs too!

Gabriel knows all of his colors, numbers and most shapes. His letters depends on the day some days he seems to know most or all and others he knows half of them.

So what preschool prep DVDs do I buy?? Holden really doesn't even know his letters and I really don't want him to struggle in school.

I got the 10 DVD set, but I only paid $40 for it. I definitely wouldn't pay the crazy price they have going on now, I think it was $129. I do know there is a Leap Frog one for letters. Do you have Netflix, I just looked on there and there are several different Leap Frogs ones.

We like the Netflix Leapfrog videos!

We can count numbers up to 20 (sometimes mumbling/mixing up the teens), but can't properly identify on the first try. He CAN distinguish a number from a letter though. He can also count objects pretty well, but I don't know if he really understands what he is doing.
He knows lots of shapes because of shape puzzles we have - circle, square, diamond, hexagon, triangle, star, oval, etc.
He can do his ABC's and recognizes about half? I think. He knows that "E" is for Eli and "M" is for mommy

Most of this he picked up on his own by watching the Leapfrog, doing puzzles, coloring with me, and sometimes I play educational games on the iPad with him.

Milan knows colors very well. Only some letters - like M for mommy, P for papa ( daddy in French ), T for Tristan.. this type of stuff. Numbers, I don't even know, we have not really worked on those. He is also pretty good with shapes.

Letters: Can say the alphabet....can recognize "B" and "E"

Numbers: Can count to twenty.....is starting to accurately count things (5 fingers, 2 doggies)....can recognize 2

Colors: Sometimes can just correctly identify the right color, but usually needs choices (Is the bus green or yellow?)

Shapes: Has been calling circles "bubbles" for the longest time but has just recently started calling them circles. I haven't heard her talk about the other shapes, but she prefers the counting and letter videos to the ones about shapes.

I know she's learning all of these things in daycare (it's more learning based than just play time). She also loves the iPad learning videos and apps.

E can count to 15. Plus identify groups of 1, 2 or 3

He knows his colors

He knows line, triangle and circle.

He just stares at anyone while they sing the alphabet and then thinks its the funnest thing when they finish.

I have not showed him numbers or letters yet.

With all the girl scout cookies sale and money counting going on here he does know the difference between a quarter, nickle and dime. Quarter big and bumpy, nickle smooth and dime little and bumpy.

Michael knows colors, shapes, can count to 30, knows alphabet. Since he was little I've been counting to him and singing "ABC" song. Whenever we walk downstairs we count the stairs. We count his toys, puzzles, etc. He learned colors and shapes from his toys, and he picked up very quickly unlike my older DD. I think she was 3 or 4 when she finally learned colors or shapes. He can't identify numbers or letters though. I've been struggling with him to learn this, but he just has no interest in doing it. He takes off whenever I start asking him to tell what number or letter he sees.

Luke knows his colors and can count to 17. Lately he has been skipping from 7 to 11 but I think that is because they rhyme. He knows most of his shapes; circle, square, rectangle, oval, diamond, star, triangle.

We haven't even thought about letters. He has a year and a half until PK, and I completely believe between his pre-preschool plus us at home, he will know everything he needs to know when he goes into PK in August 2014.
