Has your kiddo been camping? What do you think is a good age to go camping for the first time?
He's been camping tons. He went as a small baby and then a few times a year since. It was easy when he was a baby, then got hard the following year, then got fun again. I'd say around 2.5 is when he was really into it and started loving camping. So, that's probably a good age to start.
It's still waaay more work with kids than without (what isn't right?). So this year we bought a tent trailer. That makes things a lot easier then when we were in the tent.
. Thanks .hOOdihoo.this. for another beautiful siggy!
We camp in a trailer and it's definitely challenging. Eli's been going since he was about 4 months old. He does fine except he's harder to get to sleep. In fact, he ate his first solid foods while camping because he turned 6 months and I was too excited to wait until we got home.
Trey has never been camping - but he talks about it all the time. and he'll tell what he would do if he were camping. "We would have marshmellows on sticks, and put that in the fire. i'd throw sticks in the fire. id catch fireflies...." A coupld weekends ago, we did backyard camping. DH set up a tent & made a fire. we roasted marshmellows and made smores....Olivia and I only made it half of the night in the tent. Trey and Tim were troopers and made it the whole night.
We've always camped with the kids. Granted when we camp, we use a camper but still. They actually do really well camping and are pretty much seasoned pros with it. They love taking our 34' camper places. They think it's cool to sleep on the click-clack couch and eat at the table inside.
