I hope someone is out there reading...any tips on potty training a boy? My boy is very active and doesn't want to be pulled away from playing. its like pulling teeth to get him to the bathroom, but once i do, he seems excited to sit on the potty and doesnt want to get up, he wants to keep sitting & waits for pee. The prob is I can never get him to the bathroom before he wets his diaper because he refuses. Once he has a wet diaper, I give him the choice of changing it on the floor or on the potty, and luckily he chooses the potty, but at that point he doesn't have to pee.

Does he ever pee in the bath tub? My little one used to pee in the bathtub and we'd make a big deal out of it. "don't pee in the bathtub!" and laugh etc. It seemed that from an early age he knew the feeling of how to make himself try to go. Perhaps your little guy doesn't know the muscles to use to try to pee? (take this for what it is worth- stranger on the net). Perhaps you can "familiarize" him with the feeling of what it is like to actively let loose and go pee.

This is also coming from a mom who has no problem of getting his kid to sit on the potty and go pee. ONLY when he wants to. (2x per day). Needless to say potty training is not going well.

I had to just deal with some puddles on the floor to get Ellie to start going in the potty. She would go on the potty when she had to poop but I don't think she realized what having to pee felt like until she wet her panties a couple times. She goes pretty consistently now.

i wish i could help
it just snapped in Liam's head one day to go on the potty and continues to this day
we did start with bedtime going on the potty even if he didnt have to
and of course make a HUGE deal out of it when it happens
offer prizes, whatever is his favorite, we did stickers and mini marshmallows as incentives
