Kelen's had one session, and we'll put him back in this fall. He did really well, and is fairly close to getting to the next level. He just needs to swim 5 feet on his own. His coach said it was funny because most kids who hate to swim on their stomach/hate getting their faces wet don't like swimming on their back. But Kelen loved to float on his back.
We did swim lessons in the spring... He didn't want to go with the teacher so he didn't pass. She was actually kind of snippy about Mer not wanting to go with her. She told us until he was comfortable enough to go with her not to enroll him.
He loves swim lessons! He took them in March-April and then again this summer. He just finished his last class on Wednesday. They had a fun day and went down the slides---here's a pic of him going down with his teacher:
No swim lessons here.
We took Nathan and Brady the winter before we got the pool. Nathan didn't even pass and neither of them learned anything new. Within 2 weeks of the pool being open, they taught themselves how to swim/go underwater/swim the length of the pool/etc. I would like to get them a private lesson or two to fine tune the different strokes though.
Chase swims like a champ in his puddle jumper. He will even dive in it. We are planning to take it off soon & see how he does. He has no problem going underwater & likes to practice holding his breath in the bath tub
Gina, wife to Joe...mama to Nathan (8), Brady (7) and Chase (3)
Audrey swims by herself. She took lessons from July 2012 to March 2013. She learned a lot but not nearly as much as other kids who had been there for 8 months because she thought of it more as fun. I figured we would have to put her back in at some point but we've spent a lot of time in the pool over the past couple months and now she can swim unassisted.
