I have not been here in such a long long time and we have been through so much that I wanted to give you all an update.

I guess my last visit was June last year. My son was 5 months old at that point and doing great (besides him ALWAYS being awake, spitting up all the time and crying a lot)
We first noticed him not doing so well in November last year. After I stopped breastfeeding him, he stopped growing.... Now ofcourse kids do not need to grow fast all the time but he needed to grow some! Nobody was worried yet, but I found it to be odd. In December I was shocked. My poor baby did not grow and I was starting to see his ribs. All his chubbyness was gone and he had a body like a toddler. He was 11 months old at that point. Still nobody thought it was nessesary to contact a specialist but we decided different., He started to get sick all the time. One week he was okay, next week he had a HIGH fever and was very sick again. It was a cycle we could not break. On forehand we were told that we would be send home, but we made the right decision to make an appt in hospital for him. At first he was monitored and his blood was checked for (genetic) allergies. I was ordered to give him a lactose free diet. I also gave him a gluten free diet. There was a change in his sleeping routine. He was awake atleast 8x a night and now it was reduced to 2-3 times. He stopped spitting up as well. Nothing occured in his blood, but he still did not grow. It was March by this point. We were told to keep him on a lactose free diet but to add the gluten for more carbs.
In April we had an other appt and it turned out he lost weight! So we were told to go to hospital imm. A room was ready for him and they would keep an eye on him for 3 days. Just to see what he ate during the day and what his reaction was to certen foods. Also more bloodtests were done. But at day 3 he became ill. Extremely ill. Turned out he catched ROTA virus. It can be deadly. I have to admit that I have never ever seen a child so sick as my baby by then. My poor baby was not able to keep anything in and had the worst diareah ever. So after 2 days they decided the had to put on a tube. I was so so happy they did that because this way he could keep atleast the minimum amount of fluids in. Then my daughter became ill as well! Yep, same virus and she had to stay home. She was not allowed to have any contact with kids or go outside until it was over. My poor girl, she was so strong and so so sick. She had an every day contact with a local doctor to monitor her. My hubby took 2 weeks off to be with either her or our baby in hospital. Those weeks were so rough emotionally. We did not really see each other because we had to monitor both kids 24/7. Now ofcourse we did not have to be with our son, but this is just our view. We want to be with them all the time. I never have a babysitter or have them in daycare. Just something we both want.
After 9 days of being sick both kids were better again. My son lost so much weight that I could see his hipbones, ribs, spine bones. Everything was loose on him. All I did was cry.
During all this time doctors could not find anything wrong with him. Which was so frustrating. But also a relieve to know it was not anything serious.

After we came home he suddenly started to grow! YAY! but his stools were just sooo weird. All slimy and with this horrible strong smell. I showed it to our doctor and he decided to put him on a spelt grain bread. His stools became normal again, but then I bought a spelt grain bread in a supermarket and his stools were slimy again. Sooo weird. Our nutritionist told me to find the ingredients and it turnes out that yeast might be the problem. So I added all grains again and cut out yeast and now his tools are fine! Finally. He also sleeps well and has not been sick since.

It was such a rough year. My hubby lost his job (so hard when you have a new house and a baby) but luckely found one within 2 months. My daughter is the greatest. She is so tiny still but just beyond smart! Can you believe I bought summer clothes for her size 1,5 - 2 years? And she is 3,5
She only weighs 27 pounds. But she is a smart girl and a real girly girl! She loves everything girly. Skirts, dresses, ribbons, dancing, singing, ... and so on

So glad to hear from you! I saw a post of yours the other day and wonderedhow you were. I'm so sorry you've had a rough year. Poor little guy! But I'm glad to hear things are looking up! Food sensitivities can be so tough to figure out. Hopefully now it will be smooth sailing! They are both adorable! My little girl is also 27 lbs right now. And I now also have another baby girl, who is nearly 4 months--her name is Anna.

Awww congrats! Love the name Anna!

I love how tiny my daughter is, even though it makes shopping sometimes a nightmare Fitting leggings are so hard to find and she does not fit any pants or jeans. She has length 3T but waist is still like 12-18 months So even leggings do not fit most of the times. MEXX is a brand that does fit her well.

I imagen you have similar problems? How is your daughter handling being a big sister? My son has hit terrible 2's even though he is still 1. He is advanced in several things like speach. He has such a strong personality that sometimes I feel like a cop instead of a mom LOL. But luckely most of the times they get along well and they absolutely adore each other!

good to hear from you! what a crazy year you had! and scary!

what is the age difference between your kids? sounds like my two! Olivia, my youngest, is 19 months and seems way more advanced that Trey was at this age. she gets into so much more and is so much more (hate to say it) smart than Trey was at this age! They love each other a lot...but i do play referee a lot of the time.

Awww congrts! Do you know the gender already? My hubby is almost begging me to have a 3rd, but I can't say I agree. We had such a rough year and I am finally able to enjoy my family. There is finally some rest. Maybe in 5 years or so, but for now I love the little family I have.

No, my ultrasound is the 19th, but we're assuming boy. Rest is good!

It was horrible. I just did not know what caused the problems and lack of sleep really made me cranky all the time. I was happy to have 3+ hours sleep a night! Nobody can handle that

Both your kids were always tiny (as I remember correctly) like mine Congrats with your pregnancy!!

Why are you assuming boy?
We thought I was pregnant with a girl because my pregnancy symptomes were totally the same as my first. But no'p deff a boy. 30+ weeks I really started to notice a difference. He kicked me soooo hard I was just bruised inside. Really bruised. I never experianced such thing when I was pregnant with my daughter.

There are so few girls in hubby's family. So far of the 4 grandchildren already born or incubating (2 of each!) we're 3 boys and one unknown. Of hubby's cousins, there's 3 girls among 11 boys, I think. So the chances are good that this one's a boy.
