So my doctor calls me this morning at 9am to tell me they want me to come in for an ultrasound today. I am only 4.5 weeks in, so I asked why they wanted me to come in.. She said they just want to make sure everything is ok. So fine, I worry a little until my appt, then go at 1:45.

During the ultrasound, she tells me not to expect to see anything because I am too early (I could've told you that). But anyways, at the end, she goes "Well, you're pregnant, we just don't know where yet."

Seriously? I asked her what she meant by that and she told me it was too early to tell if it was a normal pregnancy in the uterus. Why would she tell me that?? I was so afraid when I left the office. She told me not to tell anyone until I know if its a "normal pregnancy." My new doctor (yes, I'm switching) told me they don't do ultrasounds until at least 9 weeks... I'm not waiting to tell everyone! They may be able to tell by then.

I called my old dr I had before I moved and talked to a midwife. She said that was absolutely unnecessary that the lady told me that. She said all the lady did was create unnecessary stress for me which isn't needed. She told me if something happens, I will know it. She said not to stress about it, because it's uncommon (possible, yes, but uncommon).

So yea, needless so say, I can't help but still worry. But I know the office did qualitative hcg today to compare to my bloodwork from Monday to make sure levels are going up. I'm still bloated with mild cramping, so I am going to assume everything is still a go..

How rude of her to say that to you! Glad you're switching!

Some Dr.'s just don't have good bedside manner at all. I am sorry she got you all worried, but try not to stress too much.

Wow your doctor has no tact! Your baby is still microscopic, of course no one could tell. At least take comfort in the fact ectopics aren't common, and you would likely have more symptoms of one as the baby grows!

That's crazy! Who says that? Glad you are switching to someone who has a little more tact.

Sorry to hear you had a rough time. I think sometimes doctors and nurses get desensitized to that sort of thing and forget to realize the human aspect of it all. I'm hoping your new doctor has a much better bedside manner.
