Do you like to cook or bake? If so what are a couple of your favorite recipes?

Do you have any pets? Do you plan on getting any(more) in the future?

Yay! I am so stoked for this!

If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?
I would pay off the student loans and mortgage (the only debt we have left) first and give most of the rest of it away. We really don't need much money for day to day expenses if I didn't have debt payments to cover and there are plenty of people that need more than I do. I'd much rather hand it over to others than keep it myself.

How many different towns/states have you lived in?
I was born in Michigan, in a town called Muskegon. It's gorgeous. If you click the link they'll show you pretty pictures of the lake and sunsets and light houses and the like. I've also lived in Memphis, TN (while my brother was in treatment at St. Jude's), 3 other towns in Western Michigan (including the one we live in now), Ann Arbor, MI (when I attended The University of MI ... GO BLUE!), and Grenoble, France. That's 7 total, I think.

What is your favorite meal?
Mashed potatoes topped with scalloped or creamed corn. It's soooooo comfort-y and such a carbfest. Mmmmm.

What's your favorite hobby?
Uh, work? Ha. No, really. I love my job. The hours suck and the kids drive me wacky on a pretty regular basis, but the research and writing parts are what I adore. If I can spend an afternoon at my computer with my feet up researching arguments and writing files for future competitions, I am in heaven. It's soooooo nerdy.

What kind of movies do you like?
Documentaries, mostly. I kind of hate action films and don't need to see more blood/guts/gore from horror. The plot lines in romances and regular dramas are all highly predictable. I'd rather learn something than just sit there being mind numbed.

Do you like to cook or bake? If so what are a couple of your favorite recipes?
I don't mind cooking, but I hate the obligatory part where you have to do it everyday. I only really like to bake from about November to Christmas. After that I'm kind of over it. I'm also not a huge recipe follower. My applesauce recipe, for example (which I'm going to make tomorrow or Thursday ... mmm, fresh apples) literally goes something like ...

Get bunch of apples. Core. Cut.
Heat until soft. Toss in some brown sugar (maybe), salt, and cinnamon.
Cook until it looks right.

Haha. That's how most of my cooking goes. I know that's not oh so helpful.

Do you have any pets? Do you plan on getting any(more) in the future?
We have 2 dogs and a cat. Only the cat is personally mine. She's 10 years old and hates basically everyone but me. This makes me like her more. I really don't want anymore than we have. If I'm being honest, I didn't want to get the second dog. He's alright, I suppose, but I thought one was plenty. I was outvoted, unfortunately.

What is your favorite perfume?
I don't wear perfume. Chemical fragrances give me migraines.

What is your favorite season?
Fall! Hands down. I love crisp cool weather, sweaters, harvest season, not feeling like I'm melting from the heat or the threat of snow, crunchy leaves ... the whole shebang. It was 64 degrees here today, which is about 15 degrees warmer than it should be halfway through October and I feel like I'm getting cheated out of my favorite season. It's going to snow sooner than I'd like, of course. Boooo.

Do you like sports? If so, what is your favorite team(s)?
I follow Big Ten college football and professional hockey. We root for The University of Michigan Wolverines (you can't go there and NOT root for them for life, defending them above all others ... it's like brainwashing) and the Detroit Red Wings (I feel like being a Wings fan is a MI State Law or something). I don't give a crap about the rest.

Ok, lovelies, who's next? I'm basically an open book. Want to know about my wacky shenanigans or some other crazy thing I've said, ask away!

I'm similarly brainwashed but for a different team. I love Big Ten football!

How did you and Ben meet?

What part of your old life are you going to miss the most when the baby gets here?

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

How did you and Ben meet?
I met him in a parking lot after a training for emergency communications personnel. He was parked next to me and I was making small talk even though I didn't know Ben at all as to avoid having to talk to the old man creeper that was following me out. In the course of that conversation I found out he went to high school with my best friend. There was largely nothing of it after that. We chatted online a handful of times (which I preferred to talking on the phone as I could do homework and chat at the same time) and after a couple weeks I asked if he wanted to get lunch sometime. He responded with, "How about dinner this weekend?"

I was distinctly under the impression that lunch is what you have with friends and dinner is for entirely other (less platonic) reasons. He was on an entirely different wave length than I was. 10 years later (this Saturday, actually) this is still entirely true. We're on different planets, but they're in the same solar system most of the time.

What part of your old life are you going to miss the most when the baby gets here?
Not having any life ending responsibility. Sure, I have work and grad school and family and the house and whatever else, but if I cancel practice or don't do dishes or decide on a Thursday night I want to take a road trip 3 hours for middle eastern food, there are largely no consequences that I can't deal with. I'm going to miss that part.

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
I used to be the Program Director of a residential summer camp. I would do that job again in a heartbeat ... forever. I've long thought that I might go back into camping once we had kids because I love the idea of exposing them to that environment. We'd have to move, though, which is the no bueno part that holds me back.
