I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2010....not sure how since I am not the typical candidate for diabetes...not overweight, not over 45...but anyways I have it. So I was on metformin but have now stopped it since I found out I was pregnant.
I have an appt with the diabetic team next week to discuss my blood sugar numbers and they will decide if I need insulin now or not. Not looking forward to insulin but hey what can you do, right?
I had gestational diabetes with my 3 previous pregnancies and had to give myself insulin each time. I was diagnosed as "pre-diabetic" about a year and a half ago and my Dr put me on Metformin, but never had me check my blood sugars. Weird. It made me sick so I hated taking it. As soon as I got a BFP I called my OB and she told me to continue with the Metformin and to check my blood sugars FOUR times a day! I had an appointment with her this past Tuesday and she said my sugars were still kinda high with the Metformin so she took me off of that and now I have to do Insulin shots twice a day It's really not so bad. The worst part of it all is pricking your finger!!!
