When did you ladies go for your first ultrasound? My doctor still wants to monitor me by checking my HCG levels... My first blood draw was 329.... my second blood draw was at 1036... my third blood ddraw was 2530 and he wants me to go in again on thursday!
What do you think this means?

What is the reason they are following your levels?

SO you have no previous pregnancy loss or were on fertility drugs? If not that is really strange that they are having you do blood draws. I had 2 blood draws just to make sure I was doubling then last week I have a ultra sound to make sure the sac was in the proper place and then next week another to check for a baby and heart beat.
But I have had 2 miscarriages if I had not they would not even see me until 8-10 weeks and probably no ultra sound until 20 weeks unless I paid extra for the 13 week scan.

Were the draws exactly 48 hrs apart? They are supposed to double or more every 48 hrs.

IF yours were taken every 48 hrs you seem to be on a good track!

This would be my first... I didn't have any losses but was on infertility meds... for a year. I wouldn't think that this would have anything to do with it though.... Would it? So i guess week eight would be the appropriate time to get an Ultrasound? I was just guessing on my due date based off my last menstral cycle... perhaps I'm less in weeks.... That's why I'm still a bit early to tell? But what bothers me is that why would I have to go every three days for a blood draw. Couldn't he just say next week?

Ok I just re-read your post if your going every 3 days then your last two #'s did not double. So that is why he is probably having you do a couple more.
Which is still weird why he wouldnt give you an ultrasound though

Can you call the office and ask? Is this your reg OB following you or a specialist that gave you fertility drugs? Some of my friends who were on fertility treatments went to speacialist they they would run tons of tests and lab work on them.
If you are getting an ultra sound probably 7-8 weeks would be when. Right now you are still early you may not get a heartbeat yet.

The nurse actually called me an told me that my numbers did double the last was 2530 and the second to last was 1036. But I guess they think it's still too early. I have to find out what these numbers mean....

If they are doubling then it means everything is looking good so far. This is something to be happy about

The funny thing is that I did ask and that was all they told me.... Maybe I just didn't ask the right question but I wouldn't know any better...... It's my first... For my DH and I and would be the first grand baby for our families.... I actually took a month break from the meds to go natural because it was just getting to be too much for me. With the break I got pregnant . So I actually went to my normal OB/GYN. Maybe I should have gone to my Specialist..... So confused.....

Your welcome.
I am still confused why they are following you so close, almost like they are just causing you worry over nothing. I think some DR's get a little to involved and we wonder why our insurance rates keep going up because of all the un needed tests they run.

Ditto.

My SIL did a cycle of fertility meds and the Dr (an RE) is making her come in for blood draws twice a week for THREE MONTHS! I think this is not only unwarrented, but a waste of time and money (except for his money). From what I know, past 6 weeks, HCG can waiver and take longer to rise. It is more informative to just do an u/s to see the baby's progess. She is around 8 weeks and her numbers didn't double last week and he made her all nervous, then made her wait all weekend to get an u/s. Turns out everything was perfect. Baby had a heartbeat and was growing appropriatly. This week her numbers didn't double again and she is on the emotional rollercoaster again until her u/s later this week.

Besides, it is not like you can prevent a m/c or stop one from happening in the first 12 weeks if it is going to happen. I just don't get why fertility docs do this. If I were you, I'd refuse all beta levels past 5 weeks unless you start bleeding, have a lot of pain, etc.

I would not stress over it, rather just ask them point blank why they want to follow you so "close" if you feel they are. Being a nurse, I can tell you that certain physicians practice a certain way. You don't need to be on fertility meds or have had previous losses for OB's/M/W's do frequent draws. It isn't uncommon practice.

Hang in there mama, there are so many unknowns in early pregnancy but, your numbers look they are doubling

Definitely try not to stress over it. Your numbers sound fine. I will be getting an u/s at 8.5 weeks.
