I'm interested in this too — I need to generate a registry list but don't know exactly what sorts of smaller items I need and in what quantities. Here is my list of larger items that I know I'll need:

crib/crib mattress/bumpers/sheets
activity gym
car seat
high chair
activity gym
bumbo chair
I love my baby boy!

I'm not registering, I've pretty much got all I need, but for those that are....

I love my boppy, make sure to get one of those... and get covers for it too! My daughter lays on it still on the couch as a pillow and she's 2. We used it for all kinds of things not just breastfeeding.

I also used the multi use pads/burp cloths on top of the cute diaper changing covers and pad to prevent any diaper messes getting on the changing pad covers... we used them in the crib under DD's head too (long ones:tucked them on both sides of the mattress) to catch any spit up while sleeping so we didn't have to change sheets constantly. DD wasn't much of a puker so we didn't use them that much in the crib.

Put diapers on there and wipes... you can always use them and hopefully people will get them!

Get a vaporizer! We are having summer babies, but it will help in the winter and even in the summer with the dry heat if you live in AZ like me!

I was registered through Babies R Us. Don't forget to register for lots of burpcloths (I liked the pre-fold cloth diapers just fine for that) and lightweight blankets for swaddling -- you always want those on hand so you're not searching for one when baby spits up or is fussy.

I also registered for the By Your Side Seat, which is AWESOME. My daughter never took to a bouncy chair or a swing but she liked her seat and I liked that it was high up enough that she wasn't practically on the floor or on a dangerous surface like a table where she could fall off, KWIM? Other than that, the girls have done a good job posting the necessities.

Thank you,
PinkCuppycakeSprinkles, for my beautiful siggy!!

Our only "essential" items are things like diapers, boppy pillow and covers and a Moby wrap. Otherwise, we have everything. Burp cloths are definitely a must-have item for us.

I think it really depends on the person.

Awesome lists ladies... I think I may start registering at Babies R Us and Target. It is always good to have the little things in mind while registering.... you all mentioned some things that I would not have thought of!
