So I had my first u/s today, and everything looked pretty good. I saw the yolk sac and the baby and there was a heartbeat. The machine didn't measure the heartbeat, but the doctor estimated it to be around 160 (really casual estimation, though. I don't put much stock in it). But the baby's measuring 4-5 days behind. It has me a little concerned because I'm pretty sure my dates are good and I know sometimes a small baby heralds bad things. Anyone have any experience with this?
Yay for seeing a h/b!!! Measuring up to a week off is fairly common. It could have been a late implanter, you could have ovulated a day or two later, etc. It can also be an error on the u/s tech's part.
When i was pregnant with Enzo my due date changed 3 times because of early u/s measurements. It fluctuated between July 1st and 8th, (and June 25th based on lmp). I think your little bean is doing great

I went from being 3 days ahead to 1 day behind in a week... The doc that measured me when I had just a sac warned me that the sac measurement isn't that accurate, and then when they measured baby yesterday she said baby was still too too small to get an accurate measurement.. Since baby is so tiny she tried several different angles and got a few different days from the 20th-23rd they are just too small at this point. So they are sticking with my LMP date until baby is big enough!
Big time thanks to jmmysterymaker for my WONDERFUL siggie!
Even if your know exactly what day you O'd, you really never know when you implanted. Implantation can be from DPO4-12, that leaves a big window....hence why you may be measuring a different date then you thought you were. Pls dont stress, congrats!
