So, what are you?

If you are a working mum (whether out or in the home), what do you do for a living? Your DH/SO?

SAHM, what jobs have you had in the past? Do you like being a SAHM? Will you go back to work eventually?

Right now I'm a Pharmacy Systems Coordinator at a hospital. I work full time Mon-Fri (although today I had off as a "sane day"). DH is a 1st LT in the Air Force. Currently he works in Civil Engineering (although his major was Mechanical Engineering). We're hoping he'll get accepted for next year's masters program at Wright Patterson AFB. If so, we'll be going there at the end of 2012.

August 1st is my last day at my work before I become a SAHM. They just started the interviewing process for my job yesterday, with the next 2 interviews on Monday. Since it's a pretty big job, I wanted to give them enough notice to get someone in there to train with me for at least 6 months. We also have an upgrade going on soon, so it will be the perfect time for the person to get training.

I actually started working at new place in August.... I am a Sr. Space Coordinator at the FAA Tech Center. I hope by me telling them I'm pregnant that they would understand... I don't know how I'm going to tell them yet
I also have an at home business selling Gift Baskets! I figure that this will help me while I'm at home on maternity leave.... I started the company in September but so far so good..... Anyone can do it so if you mommies want to learn more just private message me.....
My DH is an accounts manager for a Voice over IP system..... It's a good job but he needs my income to stay afloat so me staying at home is out of the question

I used to be a linguist in the Marine Corps, I got out almost exactly a year ago and have been a SAHM ever since. I make cloth diapers too so I have kind of a little side business going.

DH is a linguist in the Air force, he's getting his BS in computer science and getting out of the military in about 2 years to pursue a civilian career in computers. We're hoping to move to Colorado or some other place more awesome than GA

I've been a SAHM for 3 years almost. I went back to work in August part time for a spa, but I hated it so I quit in December. I just a new job and I start Monday. I'm a client care specialist with a temp agency (I work FOR the agency) full time. I find workers to fill the positions that the companies need, hiring the workers and a lot of administration work.

DH is a diesel mechanic and works primarily on transport trucks and trailers. He works a lot and at night so I rarely see him. Sigh.

I am active duty Coast Guad with only 7 years to retirement. I am sticking it out .
DH works for the State Patrol as an Electronics Technician. He loves working on the cop cars.
I hope to be a SAHM when I retire at 38 so I can't complain about the work now.

That sounds so fascinating ! What does your job entail?

I am a SAHM who works per diem as an Registered Nurse. I do long term healthcare insurance exams and work with a local VNA. I do a few visits a week and its enough to keep my head and skills in check.

I miss being a SAHM. I graduated from nursing school this past May and took a little break off from everything. Got an RN job in long term health care back in November. Honestly, I hate it. I work part time and the money's great, but it's not what I want to do.

I am a SAHM and have been for about 4-5 years now. We haven't decided on timing, but at some point I will be going back to school to become a CNM (I will have to get my RN first followed by my Midwifery license). Dh is active duty airforce. He is pretty certain he will be making a career out of it, but he has been approached about a contractor job for when he is eligible to get out.

I was a hotel manager until Sept. last year. I'm going to be a sahm until the youngest goes to school all day. I can't just stay at home all day!
Dh owns a video game store. He just opened in last July and is opening another store this coming July.. he works all the time but for a new business its doing great!

I work at the university and my husband works in ag. We both really like our careers, but they can be very demanding. His busy seasons are fall and spring and mine are in the fall in particular. I also have a lot of work events I have to go to and some travel. So it can be stressful, particularly when my DH works CRAZY hours and weeks without a break during his busy times.

Honestly, we have a tough time figuring out who we can get to take out our dog sometimes, so I'm really not sure how this is going to work out, lol. We've tried to talk about options over the last few years, but nothing seemed like it was going to work perfectly so we just decided to go for it and figure it out as it comes, I guess! (Makes me nervous. I'm a planner. Also a little bit of a control freak!)

Luckily, we have a ton of family around so finding babysitters should def not be a problem.

I am a SAHM but all of my previous work experience is in the HR field as a manager. I did not like HR though so I don't ever plan on returning to it no matter what.

DH is in trading and finance.

I work in TV news, I have 2 kids and have returned to work both times. I work evenings so right now it's good because I get to be with my kids all morning until 2PM when I leave for work, but once they are in school which is next year for my oldest, I will never see them so I may have to change gears.

The other catch is that my DH also works in TV news, but he does the AM news so he works 2A to 10A, so we don't really see each other 5 days a week. Although, again, great for the kids because they get to spend every afternoon/evening with him.

We aren't sure if we can make this still work with a 3rd one so we are contempating me being SAHM but finacially it would be pretty tight.
