I love your little siggy about it saying, right about now mommy's realizing she needs to clean the toilet a little better, b/c I felt horrible yesterday and was sitting by the toilet and thinking the exact same thing to myself! Ha!
And congrats!

I cannot believe I am already EIGHT WEEKS! HOLY COW!!

Tuesday, the DH and I went to the OB, the new one, to get our very first ultra sound. I was restless the entire weekend and really the week before. I was worrying so much about the baby. I had no HGC levels taken at the old Doc's, not confirmation pregnancy test...so I was just going on my home tests!

The got us in quick and did a vaginal (which is a little weird). My DH was awesome and stayed by my head, held my hand, and was just as captivated by the u/s screen as I was.

Uncomfortable moment of the week - the u/s printer ran out of paper, so the tech had to change it WHILE she had the dildo cam in me! AHHHH! Well, at least she kept her hand still.. LOL

This is what we saw - OUR BABY!!

The tech also surprised us and let us hear the HEART BEAT of our BABY! I almost came unglued.

He or she has a strong heart at 152 bpm and was a normal length and developing normally.

We then went to talk to the nurse-midwife and she was AWESOME!!! I am so comfortable at this place. My blood pressure was even normal. It was 118/76, usually it's a little elevated, but I was so relaxed. I just felt at HOME!

My next (un-fun) appointment is next Thursday. They will be taking blood and doing tests, but I know it is for the good of our BABY. I have started talking to him or her. It's helping diminish my worry greatly. <3

I feel terrible today. But better than yesterday. Today is different.

I actually FEEL pregnant!

I caught my husband's cold (bless him - he got it BAD) and it's been rough going. It's so much harder when you are PG because what you can take is VERY limited. I am trying every non-medicine trick in the book. Salt water gargle (vomit!), Netti Pot (which helps as long as I don't accidentally suck some of the saline down my throat (gag!), and hot showers.

But sleeping is another story.

I already have difficulty sleeping because my bump, I feel, is getting bigger every day. So, it's hard to get comfortable. And then with this cold I can't breathe or my throat is on fire.

I'm a hot mess.

Something different is going on my my uterus. GOOD different. It's very very strange. I feel like my stomach is rumbly or upset, like I might be sick, but it's not my stomach doing sumersoults....I think it could be the baby? It's a very very slight sensation of fluttery or swimmy or stomach-achey. Or it could just be gas or the fact that I also woke up STARVING despite the fact I had sweet potatoes, onions, AND a personal pizza!!!

Hopefully I'll find something lovely to eat or drink and feel better.

It's been a little while since I've given you all an update....

We went for a run of the mill u/s, one that screened for any problems, etc. I was just happy to see my very active baby bouncing around and waving his her arms. Everything looked good expecially with 150bpm.

It seemed like we waited forever to see the Doc. He told us that there was unusual thickening around the baby's neck and that this could mean the baby has Down's. He was so sensitive to our crazy emotions, it just made me more emotional.

I was a mess. I just couldn't comprehend something could be wrong with the baby we had both grown to love so much already....

He referred us to a specailist at the local hospital. Where we had another u/s - transvag, yippie. The tech took some pictures and the baby was being super cute by putting its little hands together in a prayer like fashion! XD

The Specialist took a look at the u/s pics and said there was still thickening around the baby's neck, which means that the baby is retaining water. He said it could mean mainly three things: the baby could have Down's (a chance of 1 in 950 at my age - 29), the baby is fighting off the parvo virus, or the baby could have a heart condition.

He recommended we talk to a genetic specialist, get bloodwork done, and an amnio. I agreed to all of this; however after almost a week has passed, I really do not feel it is the right course of action for us to take. The risk that we could have a loss is 1 in 300. I REALLY DO NOT want to be that 300th woman. I mean, I am not sure I would really recover from losing my first child just because I wanted to find out more information about what COULD be.

So we nixed the amnio and I am sticking to my guns - I will do whatever tests are needed as long as the baby is ok and they are non-invasive.

Please pray for lil farmer. It's really up to God at this point wether the bean stays or goes
