Has anyone had an essure procedure done instead of a tubul ligation (sp?) ? I am exploring birth control options and both hubby and I are disccussing vasectomy/getting tubes tied and trying to figure out what's the best option for us after we have this baby #2.

I've read up on the Essure website and would like to hear of anyone who's had it with the exception of us pregnant ladies here! Would love to hear any feedback on essure...

Thanks!

There is something similar called Adiana, which I believe is silicone or some kind of plastic instead of using metal. That's what I would get if DH couldn't get a V for some reason!

I had never heard of this. Now I want to see if my insurance covers it!

It sounds really good on the website. I was very excited about the idea. But I googled "essure" and "complaints" and read some pretty awful stories about people having terrible pain, super heavy periods, guns misfiring, etc. It's impossible to know the percentages on when people have complaints though.

I personally know of 3 women who have had the procedure done with no problems whatsoever.
One mentioned some cramping after and another had to take about 2 days off work. But they are all very happy with the procedure and results.
To my knowledge their insurance covered the procedures.
Like any medical procedure there are always risks. Do your research and speak to your doctor.

I've heard the exact same complaints from tubals though. *IF* I were going to get something like that done, I'd rather do essure because it's not major surgery.

My oldest sister had it done, about 6 years ago.

She has had no side affects or any complaints. so I am looking into it as an option for me.

I'm sure, like anything, when there are horror stories you will hear ALL about it, but those that have it and have no complaints you'll never hear anything.

Thanks, ladies for your responses! I thought the same thing as Brittanie mentioned above, why put myself through surgery when there's an option like Essure. I will continue to research more and ask my doctor more about it. This is all helpful and thanks again, ladies!
