My husband has been working in North Carolina the last few months on a short-term contract job while I've stayed here in the Chicago area. Now, his employers are talking about offering him a more permanent position, so I'll be joining him in about 3 weeks from now!
I'm super excited that we'll finally be together again, but I hate to leave in the middle of this pregnancy. I love my homebirth midwife here. It took me so long to find her, too!!
So now I am completely freaking out about finding another midwife around the Raleigh, NC area. I do not want to go the hospital/doctor route, but I don't even know the legal status of midwives in NC. Is it legal for a midwife to attend a home birth or do they need to practice in a hospital/birth center??
Any suggestions or tips for me on finding another good midwife and their legal status there? I will LOVE you for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's a woman on here from another PR I'm in that is having a home birth in NC, so they are legal. Pop into the Natural Childbirth board (link in my siggy) because I know she is on there and could give you some more information and resources.

Okay I looked it up and it looks like they do NOT license CPMs or DEMs, only CNMs. BUT you can still have a home birth or birth center birth with a CNM.
I was going to post that same link for the birth center near Raleigh!
