Maybe it depends on the hospital and dr???? IDK, they always sent me to the ER. Even when the OB discovered I had PreE and HELLP (I will not go into their negligence ATM) and they KNEW we were in bad shape, they sent me to the ER. Then ER got me all set, sent me for the ultrasound and then sent me to L&D after.

Most hospitals won't take you in L&D until you're 22-24 weeks.

The hospital I had DS at, you had to check in at the ER, but past 20 weeks they sent you straight up to L&D. I'm not sure about my current hospital.

My hospital was 20 weeks. However, i was about 18 weeks and having difficulty and one of the hospitals in my area has a Women's Evaluation Center which is like an ER just for pregnancy. I got hooked up to monitors and checked very quickly. But only one hospital in the area has it - thankfuly my doc was linked with that hospital.

At my hospital, if its something directly related to the pregnancy, 16 weeks. Other cases, they send you up at 20 weeks.
