Do those breast exams ladies!!

My (maternal) Aunt just had surgery in December for breast cancer, luckily they got it without doing a masectomy and she went through some radiation and was just declared cancer free last week.

My cousin (from a different maternal aunt) just found out last week that she has stage 1 breast cancer. They went for their family meeting today to discuss treatment, and she learned that she has it in both breasts and they have to do a Radical Double Masectomy. She's not much older than me and is devastated, i couldn't even imagine.

I've never had a mammogram, but think I will talk to my midwife about it next appt. Not sure you can even get one while pregnant?

Both my aunt and cousin are one of the few unlucky of us in the family that are very small chested so that makes me even more nervous because that's me too. I guess one good thing I have going for me is that breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer and with most of my kids nursing past 12 months old, I've done a LOT of that.

My paternal grandmother survived breast cancer, and I agree... Ladies, please do your breast exams. When you are pregnant, it is hard because things are so... big and sore. Still try your best and don't miss a month when you are not pregnant.

Being so small breasted I always assumed that if there is a lump, it will be impossible to miss. Probably not a good way to think and I will have my midwife check next appt. Since my youngest Just got done breastfeeding 2 days ago, I still feel oddness here n there probably milk glands but want to be sure.

I found my lump by self examining. I then had to have a mammogram but all is good. I have it on both sides of my family. So anytime I have an appt my doctor check me.
