I just got back from my hospital tour, and the tour itself was great. But they gave us packets of info and stuff and in one of them it mentions how salicylic acid has been linked to birth defects. It was in the list with Accutane and Tetracycline. So did they just mean in pill form? I have a face wash and a St Ives scrub that both have 2% of the stuff in them. I assumed it was safe, but I didn't like reading that!

You are going to be OK I think you should be worrying about benzoyle peroxide (Spellcheck) and presecribed acne meds more than anything. I still use my SA face wash. It has saved my life during those first few months, I had HORRIBLE break outs.
(As long as you are using under 2.5% then you should be OK with BP as well)

I am a proactiv user. I used it my entire pg'y with my second son. He is perfect. I did scale back my use to 1xday, but other than that I changed nothing. I have been using it this pg'y too and so far they have seen nothing concerning.

Baby will be just fine. I used benzoyl peroxide with DS#1 the whole pregnancy (spot treatment...but a lot in the 1st trimester). I read up on it and it is kids more of a "non-tested during pregnancy" drug vs. one that they know causes birth defects.

I'm sure baby is fine I use Clearskin, and it has 2% as well, and I've used it with both of my children too.
